We were now approaching the business end of the tournament with each team now having two games to go to stake their claim for Cup/Plate qualification. RSC Andylecht and BabyBlauuwe Beesten were up first in Round 4.

RSC Andylecht had experienced all three possible results in their first three games but they were unbeaten in two games having taken 4 points from a possible 6. They currently occupied third position in the table. They could climb into the Cup qualification places with a win in this game.

It would not be easy for RSC Andylecht though as they were up against the league leaders. BabyBlauuwe Beesten had 7 points from their 3 games – they won their first two and drew their last game having conceded for the first time. Was this a chink in their armour?

It didn't appear so as Sander Meester scored twice to make it 2-0 at half-time for the Dutch. After the break Chris van der Graaf made it 3-0. Jana Ranganathan scored a consolation for RSC Andylecht but he was unable to prevent BabyBlauuwe Beesten returning to winning ways. The local team extended their lead to 5 points at the top.

Round 4 of Group A continued with Giggs Boson FC versus FC Mallard. Giggs Boson FC entered this game on the back of their first win of the day. If they could continue that form they could climb into second position in the table. Already today, in the Fives competition we had seen FC Spritz lose their first two before winning their last 3 games. If Giggs Boson FC could emulate that they would have a good chance of reaching the Cup.

FC Mallard were unbeaten today but two draws had slowed their progress up the table. They still sat in second place though and the draws were against the teams in first and third position. This represented a chance for them to kick on and consolidate their place in the Cup qualification places.

It was FC Mallard who got their noses in front as Iain Buchanan scored for the Scottish team. Giggs Boson FC were level before half-time as Connor Lawson scored his second in as many games to make it 1-1.

After the break FC Mallard were back in front courtesy of Daniel Craik's third goal of the tournament. They opened up a two goal cushion with an Iain Askham goal which ultimately secured a 3-1 win.

Up next on Pitch A was Malo Guerreros versus Terrible Football. At kick-off Malo Guerreros FC were in sixth position but a win would mean they shared third position with two other teams. A two goal win would see them occupy third position on goal difference.

Terrible Football only needed a draw to move into third place on their own but it would give them work to do going into the final round of fixtures. If Terrible Football could secure victory then they would secure qualification to the Plate with a game to spare.

It was Terrible Football who took the lead through Harry Smith but Malo Guerreros FC responded quickly. Two goals from Dave Williams meant the English team would go into half-time 2-1 ahead.

In the second half Terrible Football bounced back emphatically. Stefan Wohrmueller levelled it up at 2-2 before Sho Konno put his team ahead for the second time in the game at 3-2. Martin Jones then secured the three points as he increased the lead to 4-2. Congratulation to Terrible Football who would be guaranteed a place in the Plate at the very least this afternoon.
