We had two first game winners meeting face-to-face at the start of Round 2. East Anglia Dons had a 2-0 win over Shamrock Football Club and Team Tapas had a 4-0 win over FC Gijon.

This was the second time in our tournaments we had a team representing the Netherlands that comprised of Spanish players. At the 2016 Amsterdam Fives, Spain United were brilliant in the group phase with 4 wins out of 4. They scored 13 goals and conceded 0 (the only team to go through the group phase without conceding in our Amsterdam Fives tournament at this venue).

Although it was early, Team Tapas looked like they might be able to emulate that feat. They scored three first half goals through Joni Vargas and two from Miguel Silva. In the second half they kept the goals coming and it was that man Miguel Silva again. First of all he completed his hat-trick and then he added his fourth and his team's fifth.

The final score was 5-0 and Team Tapas were top.

ZVC Indoor Gent had already played in our Amsterdam event before. In 2017 they competed in the Amsterdam Fives. They had 4 wins out of 4 in the group phase before their final pool match. They lost it 5-3 to eventual tournament winners BSP FC. It meant 3 teams finished on 12 points and ZVC Gent finished in third place on goal difference. They had still done enough to qualify for the Cup. In the Quarter Finals they went out to the Amsterdam Sixes champions that year, Vieze Vu (5-4).

They opened up with a defeat today but had a chance to bounce back against FC Gijon (Eng). The English team had suffered a 4-0 defeat in their first game and equally needed to respond.

It was ZVC Indoor Gent who took the early initiative as Tommy Jacobs scored twice in the opening half. In the second half he went on to complete his hat-trick before Marten Aelterman made it 4-0. Tommy Jacobs went on to add his fourth and his team's fifth.

The final score was 5-0 and ZVC Indoor Gent were back in business.

To complete Round 2 we had Kavlow (Eng) versus Shamrock Football Club (Swi). At the 2018 tournament Shamrock Football Club finished third in a really tough group that saw defending champions Toros Vieze Vu only finish in 5th. Third saw them qualify for the Plate where they lost 3-0 to FC Gijon in the Semi-Finals. The team have a new sponsor and new name for 2019.

Today the Swiss opened up with a 2-0 defeat whilst Kavlow won 4-1 against a good ZVC Indoor Gent team. It suggested that Kavlow would be favourites for this tie but it was Shamrock Football Club who hit the front. Fraser Butler scored his team's first goal of the day. Kavlow hit back though as another Fraser, Fraser MacKenzie, equalised for 1-1 and we were level at half-time.

In the second half Kavlow moved ahead with a Chad Bryce Borthwick goal but the lead did not last long. It was the turn of Shamrock Football Club to equalise as Lewis Ball was on target. Kavlow regained the lead with Jeremy Tudorpole's third goal of the tournament. It was not enough to claim all 3 points though as Shamrock Football Club equalised for a second time in the half and it was Lewis Ball again.

The match finished 3-3. 1 point each.
