The first phase of the 2019 Amsterdam Sixes would be decided on a group basis with two groups of 6 teams. Each team would play each other team in their group once and therefore 5 group games. After which, depending on position, they would progress to the Cup or Plate competition.

The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group would progress to the Cup competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final.

The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each group would progress to the Plate competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final. The teams finishing 5th and 6th in each group would be eliminated.

Up next, we had Terrible Football versus BabyBlauuwe Beesten – both teams had won their opening game of the tournament. BabyBlauuwe Beesten would go on to make it 2 wins out of 2. Casper Duin set them on their way with a first half goal. Yannick van der Made and Chris van de Graaf added second half goals to complete a 3-0 win.

The next game on Pitch 4 was RSC Andylecht versus Giggs Boson FC. Giggs Boson FC drew a tough group at their most recent appearance - the 2018 Lisbon Tournament. The group was so difficult that Spain's Naranjitos who had a 100% win record from 7 games in Barcelona only finish 5th in the table. Giggs Boson were 6th – the group also featured the 2016 Krakow Trophy champions. Giggs Boson went into the Trophy and picked up a 5-1 Quarter-Final win over FC United of Bob. They then succumbed 2-0 to Tysers in the Semi-Finals. How will they fare in Sixes action?

Giggs Boson FC had lost their opening game by the odd goal and when they reached half-time here they found themselves 2-1 down. Andy Sumner scored for the second game in a row for RSC Andylecht but Will Davis levelled things up for Giggs Boson. Andy Sumner then scored his third of the tournament to make it 2-1 at half-time.

So far this morning RSC Andylecht had taken the lead four times. They were pegged back twice and lost their first game. Here they had been pegged back once but managed to hold on to the 2-1 lead as they went on to complete their first victory of the day.

The final game of Round 2 was FC Mallard versus Malo Guerreros FC. These teams had mixed fortunes in Round 1 with FC Mallard picking up a 3-2 victory over RSC Andylecht. Malo Guerreros FC had slipped to a 2-0 defeat against BabyBlauuwe Beesten. Could FC Mallard make it 2 wins from 2 and go to the top of the table or could Malo Guerreros FC bounce back?

It would be neither. The two teams reached half-time without troubling the scorers at 0-0. The second half followed the pattern of the opening period with both defences on top. We reached full-time still at stalemate. Final score, 0-0.

Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained of 2 points dropped for these two teams. Malo Guerreros FC had their first point on the board.
