Team Tapas (Hol)

The climax of the day's events had arrived - The 2019 Amsterdam Sixes Cup Final.

Whilst those teams who had battled hard yet already departed could enjoy a nice cool beer and enjoy the spectacle of the tournament climax there was still work to do for our two finalists. What a Cup Final we had in prospect!

We had two teams who had both excelled throughout the day and I don't think anyone could argue that they didn't deserve to be in the final.

The two teams;

ZVC Indoor Gent

Played 6, Won 5, Drawn 0, Lost 1, For 25, Against 11.

Group finish: 2nd.

Current top scorer – Tommy Jacobs (14) #1 for the tournament

2 nd best goal difference on the day.

Joint most clean sheets in the tournament.

Joint top scorers in the tournament.

2nd eurofootballfives.com Cup Final

2015 Mallorca Tournament Cup runners-up.

2019 Algarve Open Plate winners.

Kavlow

Played 6, Won 5, Drawn 1, Lost 0, For 25, Against 6.

Group finish: 1st.

Current top scorer – Jeremy Tudorpole (10) #2 for the tournament.

Best goal difference on the day.

Joint top scorers in the tournament.

Joint 2 nd most clean sheets in the tournament.

2 nd best defensive record.

These two teams had already played today in the very first round of fixtures in Group B. On that occasion Kavlow won the game 4-1 but a lot of football had been played since then and ZVC Indoor Gent had a chance to get their revenge and end the day with their first eurofootballfives.com title. They had come close before at the 2015 Mallorca Tournament where they lost 1-0 to Saipan FC.

In the Cup Final it was the team from who England who continued their fine form. Chad Bryce Borthwick scored his 9 th of the tournament to give his team the lead. ZVC Indoor Gent were quickly level through Tommy Jacobs 15th goal of the tournament. The goals kept on coming with Chad Bryce Borthwick reaching double figures of the day to put Kavlow 2-1 up. ZVC Indoor Gent were back on level terms again though with Michael Ingels scoring his fifth of the day.

The second half kicked off with the game delicately poised at 2-2. It seemed obvious to say but the next goal would be crucial – Thomas Murray was the man to score it as Kavlow moved 3-2 up. With time against ZVC there was always the chance they would leave gaps at the back as they tried to get a third equalizer in the game. The game opened up and Chad Bryce Borthwick took full advantage. He made it 4-2 which was a big goal psychologically to break Belgian resistance. It was also the first hat-trick in an Amsterdam Sixes final. It got even better though as he put the icing on the cake with a 5-2 win.

We would like to congratulate ZVC Indoor Gent on a superb performance over the course of the tournament and commiserations on missing out in the Cup Final. They would collect runners-up medals in the presentation for the second time in our tournaments. Third time lucky at their next eurofootballfives.com tournament?

The individual honour of the day went to ZVC Indoor Gent. Tommy Jacobs was the top scorer with 15 goals. It was the most goals scored at a single Amsterdam Sixes tournament so very well done to Tommy.

Congratulations to our champions – Kavlow - they became the first English winners of our Sixes event. It was a great win and they had certainly earned it. They were the top scorers in the tournament and had the best goal difference overall. A huge well done to them as they were worthy winners.
