With
the game underway it was honours even in the
opening period. A Justin Shelley goal for Spider
Mans & Eagle and a Luis Moreno Tello goal
for Tommy Hilfiger ensured the two teams would
kick-off the second half still level, 1-1.
In
the second half it was Spider Mans & Eagle
who took the lead with Ryan Stevens making it
11 goals of the day. Sam A'Court then put daylight
between the two teams when he made it 3-1. The
English team were seemingly on their way to
success.
Doubts
may have crept in when Scott reduced the deficit
to 3-2 for Tommy Hilfiger but Spider Mans &
Eagle had enough left in the tank to see out
the victory. 5 wins from 7 games is a pretty
decent return by any standards.
For
Tommy Hilfiger it was disappointment to fall
just short. For now they had to be content with
Runners-Up medals but we hoped we would see
them again at the event for another crack at
the title.
There
would also be disappointment for Ryan Stevens
in the individual honours. His haul of 11 goals
would put him level with Tim Van Gelder in the
goal-scoring charts. When 2 players are equal
we have the following tie-breakers:
-
The player who played the fewest games is crowned
top-goalscorer.
-
If still level, the player who played in the
higher competition (i.e. Cup over Plate) is
crowned top-goalscorer.
In
this instance it was Tim Van Gelder who played
for Toros in the Cup. However, Ryan Stevens
should be immensely proud of a great return.
11 goals in 7 games is a superb effort.
We
leave the Plate competition for today though
by celebrating our winners. We offer huge congratulations
to Spider Mans & Eagle! Enjoy your victory
– it was thoroughly deserved.
