We began Round 3 with Cheesecake FC versus Bull Fossils B as fourth position took on fifth position. Group A was proving to be very tight and the low-scoring games were testimony to that. Group A would average 2.53 goals per game compared to 4.53 goals per game in Group B. It made for a very interesting group table and every goal mattered.

This game broke with tradition to some degree. Most games had been won or lost by the odd goal and we hadn't really seen a one-sided game until this one. Cheesecake FC, maybe spurred on by defeat in Round 2, really moved through the gears and ruthlessly put Bull Fossils B to the sword.

Ben Woods put Cheesecake FC 1-0 up and they never looked back. Jamie Ingley scored his second of the day to double the lead before Phil Shaw opened his account to make it 3-0. 3-0 became 4-0 as Justin Rees scored for the second game in succession. The half-time whistle blew to give Bull Fossils B some respite.

In the second period the fireworks quietened down but Bull Fossils B could not prevent Cheesecake FC extending the lead to 5-0 as stag Mark Hignett completed the scoring. Whilst they were proficient in front of goal they were efficient at the back with Gavin McEvoy keeping his second clean sheet in three games.

The result propelled Cheesecake FC to second in the table whilst Bull Fossils B slipped to sixth.

The next fixture would be FC Letcom versus Tommy Hilfiger. At the start of Round 3 this was the top of the table side versus the bottom of the table side. A home banker for FC Letcom?

If you'd put FC Letcom home win on your accumulator this weekend you may well have been sweating as it was the Dutch team who took the lead. Going all Brazilian with the names (one name only) it was Scott who put Tommy Hilfiger ahead. It was a lead the Dutch team would hold until half-time.

FC Letcom had a 100% record prior to this game and they would have to be at their best to turn this match around and keep that record going. Things looked better for the team from Switzerland when Mitchel Renton levelled things up at 1-1. FC Letcom then hit the front when Jonathan Wray put his team 2-1 up. Jonathan Wray had now scored in all 3 games and this was his second match-winning goal.

It was a valiant effort from Tommy Hilfiger but ultimately to no avail. Despite the defeat they moved up a place in the table as Bull Fossils B fell below them on goal difference. FC Letcom marched on with 9 points from 9.

Game #9 of Group A would be FC Skackney versus Tekkerslovakia. These two teams had an identical record so far. Both had won one and lost one. Both had scored twice and conceded twice. The two teams were on 3 points and currently occupied the mid-table positions. A win for either team would see the victors move into a share of second place. A draw would see them consolidate mid-table but fall 5 points behind the leaders. A defeat would put a severe dent in the chances of Cup qualification.

With the two teams possessing identical records we expected a close game but it was not be. Skackney FC took the lead in the opening period through Dom Higgins and maintained the 1-0 score until half-time. After the break Dom Higgins was on target again as he doubled his team's lead.

The lead became an unassailable one when Jason Gardien made it 3-0 and secured all 3 points for his team. The NZ team had now scored 4 without reply and had two clean sheets on the bounce. They were upwardly mobile in Group A.

The result was a blow for Tekkerslovakia as chances of Cup qualification were now looking slim (although still mathematically possible).
