Cheesecake FC were back in action against FC Letcom in Round 2 with both teams having picked up victories in Round 1.

FC Letcom were representing Switzerland in our tournaments and over our previous 89 tournaments we have had 2 tournament victories for the Swiss. Both victories were claimed by Cilag Team at our private corporate tournament for Johnson & Johnson. It is an event we have run each year since 2012 and the Swiss office has won the 2015 and 2017 editions in Prague and Bratislava respectively. In our public tournaments there has been less success for Switzerland although earlier this year at the 2017 Krakow Trophy we thought a Swiss win could be on the cards. Krakowcaine (Swi) were flying at the end of the group phase and were tournament favourites until a surprising 2-1 defeat to Slovakian side GSF Drunkerz in the Cup Semi-Finals. Could FC Letcom be the first team from Switzerland to win one of our public tournaments?

They had a win under their belts already and we reached half-time at this one, 0-0. It was a good start for FC Letcom that was to get even better. After the break the goals began to flow and it was FC Letcom who claimed the lion's share. Ameen Ahmed set them on their way before Ryan Clark opened his personal account. Jonathan Wray then scored for the second game in a row as it was 3 points to Switzerland.

The bright spot of the second half for Cheesecake FC was a Justin Rees strike which, alas for them, proved to be a mere consolation on this occasion.

The next game on Pitch A was Bull Fossils B versus Tekkerslovakia versus Bull Fossils B. The former had picked up a decent point in Round 1 whereas the latter suffered a narrow defeat in their opening game against Cheesecake FC.

Both teams were looking to break their duck in the goal-scoring stakes. Tekkerslovakia set this particular record straight in the first half here as Stu Isaac would go down in the history books as the first man to score for Tekkerslovakia in Europe. It was a well-taken goal slid in with power at the goalkeeper's near post.

In the second half Bull Fossils B found themselves level after B. Bough converted from a corner to make it 1-1. The game's winning moment came after Stu Isaac found an incisive pass to Graham Connolly who found himself in acres of space. Connolly calmly slotted the ball through the oncoming keeper's legs and tucked away the winning goal. For the rest of the game, the Tekkerslovakia defence held strong limiting opportunities for Bull Fossils B to level it up again. At the other end Tekkerslovakia had chances to extend the lead and even missed a penalty which would have given them some breathing space.

Final score, 2-1 and a first European win for Tekkerslovakia.

The final game of Round 2 was Tommy Hilfiger (Hol) versus FC Skackney (NZ). The Dutch team were looking to build on a point from their opening game. FC Skackney were looking to bounce back and avenge an opening game defeat.

As briefly referenced in Round 1, FC Skackney made their debut at the 2016 Barcelona Fives. They made a good impression in a very tough group that included the eventual champions. In their 7 group games they picked up 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats. They had a good positive goal difference with 13 scored and 5 conceded as they finished 4th of 8 teams. They qualified for the Plate Quarter-Finals where they met the 2013 Barcelona Fives champions, Los Swallacticos. They drew 2-2 before winning 3-2 on penalties. In the Semi-Final they went out 2-1 to Leek High Boys to miss out on a debut final.

With this game underway it was Skackney FC who hit the front in the first half. Sam Harris scored in their first game and was on the money again here in Round 2. He was Skackney FC's top scorer in Barcelona with 5 goals to his name on that occasion. He was looking in equally good form here in Amsterdam.

Sam Harris's strike was good enough to give his team a 1-0 lead at half-time. A strong defensive display throughout by the Kiwi team meant they had a first clean sheet of the day that helped ensure 1-0 at half-time would become 1-0 at full-time.
