Ruta
Uno FC (Wal) featured for the first time in
our events at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans last
May. They began against Polish team AFC Blue
Boys who regularly reach the Cup SF stage in
our Vets tournaments and lost 3-1. They didn't
have to wait long for their opening win as the
saw off Peebles All Stars, 4-1. A 2-2 draw against
The Maulers followed before a creditable 1-1
draw against 4x eurofootballfives.com winners
FC Mahou. They finished third in their group
and qualified for the Plate competition. They
met ACE & The Swagmen in the Plate QF but
lost 2-1 to exit the tournament.
To
begin their campaign, Ruta Uno FC were up against
Jamaica Bell. The English team were aiming to
bounce back from a narrow 1-0 defeat against
the defending champions in their opening match
. Jamaica Bell started the game on the front
foot, pressing high and creating several early
chances. Their persistence paid off when Ross
Clayton found the back of the net, giving Jamaica
Bell a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Ruta Uno
FC, despite being behind, showed resilience
and determination to get back into the game.
The
second half saw Ruta Uno FC push for an equalizer,
and their efforts were rewarded when Liam Flaherty
scored, leveling the match at 1-1. The game
became an intense battle as both teams searched
for a winning goal. Jamaica Bell, driven by
their earlier setback, continued to press and
eventually found the decisive moment. Will Stevens
struck to restore Jamaica Bell's lead, making
it 2-1. Ruta Uno FC fought hard to find another
equalizer, but Jamaica Bell's defence held firm,
securing their first victory of the tournament.
