12 months ago at the 2023 Amsterdam Sevens, Humble Goats got off to a steady start with 1-0 wins over Dynamo Leila and FNF on Tour. They began to move through the gears with a 2-0 win against Apolo Legends and 4-0 victory against Billit Dreamz. They defeated France's Bear Ballers 2-0 in the final group game to win Group B with a 100% record and yet to concede a goal. They did concede against another French team, Foot 130, in the Cup Semi-Finals but had enough in the tank to still get through, 2-1. They met Denmark's Uden Filter in the Cup Final and, just as in 2023, they drew 0-0 and required a penalty shootout (2-1) to take victory.

Today they had started with a steady 1-0 win over Jamaica Bell and faced another first game victor, BK Manskomplex. Humble Goats started the match with confidence, quickly taking control of the game. Their early dominance was rewarded when Jeremy Freyne opened the scoring, giving the Goats a 1-0 lead. Raphael Oliver Hernandez soon doubled their advantage, making it 2-0 by halftime. BK Manskomplex struggled to find a response, with the Humble Goats' defence proving impenetrable.

The second half saw the defending champions continue their relentless assault. Jeremy Freyne scored his second goal of the match to extend the lead to 3-0. The goals kept coming as Reuben Tetteh found the back of the net, followed by a strike from Guillermo Dawson. Tetteh added another goal to his tally, completing the scoring spree and sealing a comprehensive 6-0 victory for the Humble Goats. BK Manskomplex, despite their best efforts, were unable to match the intensity and quality of the Humble Goats, who showcased their championship credentials with a dominant performance.

Ruta Uno FC (Wal) featured for the first time in our events at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans last May. They began against Polish team AFC Blue Boys who regularly reach the Cup SF stage in our Vets tournaments and lost 3-1. They didn't have to wait long for their opening win as the saw off Peebles All Stars, 4-1. A 2-2 draw against The Maulers followed before a creditable 1-1 draw against 4x eurofootballfives.com winners FC Mahou. They finished third in their group and qualified for the Plate competition. They met ACE & The Swagmen in the Plate QF but lost 2-1 to exit the tournament.

To begin their campaign, Ruta Uno FC were up against Jamaica Bell. The English team were aiming to bounce back from a narrow 1-0 defeat against the defending champions in their opening match . Jamaica Bell started the game on the front foot, pressing high and creating several early chances. Their persistence paid off when Ross Clayton found the back of the net, giving Jamaica Bell a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Ruta Uno FC, despite being behind, showed resilience and determination to get back into the game.

The second half saw Ruta Uno FC push for an equalizer, and their efforts were rewarded when Liam Flaherty scored, leveling the match at 1-1. The game became an intense battle as both teams searched for a winning goal. Jamaica Bell, driven by their earlier setback, continued to press and eventually found the decisive moment. Will Stevens struck to restore Jamaica Bell's lead, making it 2-1. Ruta Uno FC fought hard to find another equalizer, but Jamaica Bell's defence held firm, securing their first victory of the tournament.

The sixth game of Group A in the 2024 Amsterdam Sevens was scheduled to feature Haagse Bluf against Riises Pieces. However, due to Haagse Bluf's absence from the tournament, Riises Pieces were awarded a 3-0 walkover victory.
