Sherrardswood
Ladies went into game 4 knowing three points against
2nd place Godalming Greens would lift them into
the Cup qualification places at the expense of
their opposition. Godalming Greens were unbeaten
so this would not prove to be easy. Naomi Totten
scored for Sherrardswood but it was not enough
for victory as Claire Katoraz hit the back of
the net for Godalming. Godalming Greens picked
up a point, which with results elsewhere, saw
them go back to the top of the table. Godalming
Greens were still unbeaten and emerging as a force
in this competition. The point for Sherrardswood
Ladies kept them in third but with work to do
in their final game.
Pitch
A finally saw goals in what was arguably the performance
of Group B. Ebirds, without a win took on top
of the table Eastwood High who were unbeaten and
coming off the back of a 4-1 victory. The form
book was turned on its head though as Ebirds took
a surprise lead when Lisa Hall scored her third
in four games. It was to get even better though
when 1-0 became 2-0 through Vicky Moore. Eastwood
High are fighters though and never give up. This
fighting spirit shone through as they brought
the game back to 2-1 with a goal from Michelle
Gourlay. Ebirds held firm though for an excellent
3 points. Qualification was now in their own hands
and manager Kevin Tickle could barely contain
his delight.
CAAF
Alte “B” and BA Speedbirds met in a must not lose
game for their qualification hopes knowing a win
would be a huge boost in progressing from the
group. The game went in favour of the Portuguese
in a close 2-1 victory courtesy of a Wave Viegas
double. BA Speedbirds, who scored through Petra
Laursen, would now need to beat Ebirds by 2 goals
and hope Sherrardswood Ladies win in their last
game in order to qualify. A tough ask.
