Match
3 of Group B and the table was beginning to take
shape. Godalming Greens took their 100% record
to the challenge of Ebirds. A close encounter
finished level and while Godalming Greens could
not make it 3 wins out of 3 they did remain unbeaten
as the teams drew 1-1. A second point for the
Ebirds as they were now working their way into
the tournament after a slow start. Alice Sugden
scored her fifth of the tournament for Godalming
Greens emerging as one of the players of the tournament
whilst Lisa Hall was on the mark for Ebirds with
her second of the competition.
It
will come as no surprise when we mention the next
game on pitch A finished........yes, 0-0! BA Speedbirds
and Sherrardswood Ladies were the teams to fall
foul of the pitch A goal curse. Whilst both teams
tried hard to break the deadlock neither keeper
would be beaten and both held on to claim clean
sheets. The draw for Sherrardswood Ladies kept
them in 3rd place whilst the point for BA Speedbirds
moved them up to two points for the tournament
and kept them in the hunt for a place in the Plate
semi-finals.
The
final game of round 3 saw the group's biggest
victory as Scotland 's Eastwood High tore the
defence of Portugal 's CAAF Alte “B” to shreds.
The final score of 4-1 reflected Eastwood High's
dominance of the game and saw them top the table
on goal difference from Godalming Greens. It was
a different story for CAAF Alte “B” though as
they now found themselves bottom of the pile.
At this stage we take our hats off to Fiona McMillan
who scored all four or Eastwood High's goals.
