Godalming
Yellows went into match 3 without a point and
without a goal. Things were to go from bad to
worse as they were on the wrong end of a 4-0 result
against KPMG WFC. KPMG WFC were now firing on
all cylinders as they made it 3 wins out of 3.
An Emma Jesse brace in between goals from Clare
Palmer piling on the agony for Godalming Yellows.
Emma Jesse now had a very respectable return of
4 goals in 3 games.
At
the top of the table Padernesne maintained first
place (on the slightest of goal difference) as
they also kept up their 100% record. Padernesne
matched the 4-0 win of KPMG WFC with a win over
Hogans Heroes by the same scoreline. Padernesne's
Lucia scored the first hat-trick of the group
while Natalia completed the scoring. Hogans Heroes
remained in 5 th place.
Then
came the most critical game of the round with
third placed Womblettes meeting 4 th placed CAAF
Alte “A”. A win for either would see them keep
pace with KPMG WFC and Padernesne while a defeat
would mean an uphill battle for Cup qualification.
The 3 rd option of the draw would mean both teams
probably heading for the Plate as a 5 point gap
would open up between the top two and 3 rd /4
th place. What followed was an entertaining game
treating the gathering spectators to a 5 goal
thriller. Maria Canhoto and Michaela Lopez both
added to their tally but it wasn't enough to clinch
victory as Thea Carroll fired in the group's second
hat-trick and put her top of the goal-scoring
charts with 5 goals.
