The
tie of match 4 was the clash between the top two
of Padernesne and KPMG WFC. With only one goal
separating them at the top this promised to be
a close encounter and that's exactly what it proved
to be. Both teams brought a 100% record to the
game with 8 goals under their belts although this
was unlikely to be a high scoring contest. In
the end one goal proved to be enough. Lucia followed
up her hat-trick against Hogans Heroes with the
decider in this fixture. A result that ensured
their qualification into the Cup competition and
the team to beat.
Womblettes
were favourites against Godalming Yellows and
the formbook didn't lie as Womblettes swept aside
the opposition 4-0. An incredible second consecutive
hat-trick from Thea Carroll meant that Womblettes
would leapfrog KPMG WFC into second place on goal
difference. Thea Carroll now with daylight at
the top of the goal-scoring table with 8 in 4
games. Karen O'Neill opened her personal account
with the other goal.
Due
to fixture permutations, CAAF Alte “A” could now
not qualify for the Cup but had the opportunity
to secure Plate qualification against Hogans Heroes.
Hogans Heroes by contrast had to win to give themselves
any hope of progressing to the afternoon's knock-out
stage. However, a fourth defeat for Hogans Heroes
meant this particular dream was over and a spirited
performance was not enough as the Portuguese double
act of Lopez and Canhoto fired again with a goal
each.
