As we entered the Cup Group, each of the 5 qualifying teams had 4 games to stake their claim to be crowned 2010 Prague Trophy champions.

First up was Group A winners SK Zelenec against Deportivo. The game got off to a flying start as SK Zelenec found themselves behind for the first time today as Deportivo scored in the first minute through Leo Echeverria. Moments later it was 2-0 thanks to Sebastian Menendez. Within minutes though the lead was halved and SK Zelenec were back in the game through Petr Hossler. Three very early goals had given Deportivo the advantage.

After the scorching start the game settled down and there were to be no further goals. SK Zelenec's 100% record had gone and Deportivo were the early leaders of the Cup group.

The meeting between Brighton & Hove Rockets and DHL Prague Blue was the third in eurofootballfives.com competition. In the 2009 Krakow Trophy group stage the Czechs won 2-1 and this morning the teams could not be separated in a 2-2 draw. Brighton & Hove had come from 2-0 down in that game and the momentum continued with them in this match as Chris Guijarro gave the English team the lead. One nil became two nil as Matt Pell scored again for the Rockets. Could this be their first win over their opponents?

The gauntlet had been thrown down to DHL Prague Blue to see if they could match the English team by coming back from 2-0 as they had down a few hours earlier. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was David Asamoah with his 9th and 10th goals of the tournament who drew DHL Prague Blue level at 2-2 – a complete reversal of the morning fixture. Believe it or not we were still in the first half of this quality game. By contrast though, a goal-less second half followed and both teams registered their first points of the Cup Group with a well earned draw.

There was still one team to begin their Cup Group challenge – Group B winners, with a 100% record, Arrows. They met Group A winners SK Zelenec who had a 100% group record. The latter's 100% record went when they met Deportivo in Game 1 of this Cup Group but they quickly put this behind them as Petr Hossler gave the Czech's a 1-0 lead. This was the first time today that Arrows had been behind today so how would they react to this diversity? Pretty well to be honest as goals from John Gilham and Joe Heath turned 0-1 into 2-1.

SK Zelenec were now the team with the uphill task. Having won four in a row they were now looking at two consecutive defeats. This was not to be though as their very own fighting spirit saw them claw it back to 2-2 thanks to Stanislav Krebs. There was barely time to kick-off again and the game finished 2-2. Only time would tell if this was a point gained for either side or two points dropped in what was promising to be a very tight group. One thing for certain though was Deportivo would have enjoyed this result as they led the group on 3 points with all four other teams level on 1 point each.

If Deportivo's position looked healthy after Game 3 of this group they had the opportunity to make it positively rosy. When they met Brighton & Hove Rockets in Game 4 they knew a win would give them a 5 point lead at the top of this group. There were no easy games in this group though and Brighton & Hove Rockets proved that when they took an early lead courtesy of Matt Pell's 6th goal of the tournament. The advantage for Deportivo was that they had time to recover and they did so before half-time when Leo Echeverria scored his second of the day to level the scores at 1-1.

Into the second-half and Deportivo pushed ahead to open that big gap at the top of the table and when Sebastian Menendez put them 2-1 up it looked like they would do just that. Brighton & Hove Rockets never lay down and stayed in touch with their opponents. There was even a big scare for Deportivo when Brighton goalkeeper Paul Skelding hit the crossbar with a clearance. The Rockets could not find the equalizer and a great performance went unrewarded.

Deportivo were now looking clear favourites at the top of the Cup Group but teams did have games in hand to come so everything was far from over.
