Game 8 was a battle between the teams occupying 4th and 5th place. A draw was no good for either side and especially so for the Widow Makers who still had a chance of making the Cup if they could win their remaining two games. They got off to the perfect start as two goals from Lukas Vrba and one from Lukas Opartny gave them a 3-0 lead. From there they never looked back and scored three more in the second half as Damien Smethurst made it 4-0, Lukas Vrba completed his hat-trick and Aziz Skiredj scored a stunner to hit IDC for 6.

IDC were to gain some consolation from this match though as Jakub Vlach scored his team's first goal of the tournament to rapturous applause. The Widow Makers were now just one point behind Brighton & Hove Rockets with their next game against the team they needed to beat to leapfrog into the Cup.

SK Zelenec and DHL Prague Blue were both already assured of Cup qualification and were playing for pride and the honour of becoming Group A champions. These teams had met twice before with close contests on both occasions. 12 months ago the teams played out a 2-2 draw and in July this year SK Zelenec won 1-0. SK Zelenec would love to keep up this unbeaten record against their opponents and , if they did, it would mean they would win their group for the first time since the Prague Trophy in October 2008.

For long periods of this game it looked like this game would finish 0-0 and secure the point SK Zelenec needed but as time ticked away there was to be a sting in the tail as Martin Zahumensky popped up to score the only goal of the game. The goal gave SK Zelenec victory and the Group A title with a 100% record. DHL Prague Blue would follow them into the Cup.

Into the last game of the group and it was a direct fight for the last Cup qualification place as Brighton & Hove Rockets with 4 points meeting Widow Makers on 3 points. Based upon previous performances the Widow Makers were the surprise package of this tournament. They were threatening to put a cat amongst the pigeons and give Rockets a real scare as Aziz Skiredj and Lukas Vrba (with his 6th of the tournament) gave the Widow Makers a 2-1 half-time lead. Gary Cox's third goal of the tournament was keeping his side in the contest.

Pressure must have been mounting on the Rockets but remember they only needed a draw to make the Cup. Mid-way through the second half the 2-1 lead remained though and the equalizer was proving elusive. That was until Matt Pell stepped up to bring the game back to 2-2. You could almost visibly see the English team relax and with that Joe Di Fede put qualification beyond doubt late on with a great strike from distance to seal a 3-2 victory and 3rd place in Group A. Our commiserations to the Widow Makers on a valiant effort.
