The 2010 Prague Trophy kicked off with SK Zelenec hosting Brighton & Hove Rockets. SK Zelenec were making their 6th appearance reaching the Cup Semi-Finals on 3 occassions before going out to the eventual winners. Could this be their tournament?. Brighton & Hove Rockets were making their 2nd appearance and looking to build upon their Plate Runner-Up finish in the 2009 Krakow Trophy.

Honours were even after a first half which saw Matt Pell and Peter Brtka score their team's opening goals of the day. Locked at 1-1 the second half saw SK Zelenec forge ahead through Radek Sulta. When Milan Kulda made it 3-1 the points were in the bag for the home team. It was a tough start for Brighton & Hove Rockets but they had three more group games to get their campaign running.

Next up was IDC who were the only debutants in this 9-team tournament. Their opening game was against the vastly experienced DHL Prague Blue team. That experience was proving valuable as they stormed into a 5-goal lead in the opening period. Marouen Ghadhab scored the goal to get the ball rolling before David Asamoah (2), Emam Bezikoglu and Ghadhab again all scored before the break.

In the second half there were three more strikes from David Asamoah who shot to the top of the early goalscoring charts on 5 plus a goal from Abdul Gadiri Barry as DHL Prague Blue ran out 9-0 winners. It was a tough start for IDC in eurofootballfives.com competition.

The last team to begin their challenge in Group A was the Widow Makers. They competed in both our 2009 Prague tournaments as Harp Chancers and Harp Hospada with just one win in 9 games. This run included a 24-0 defeat to their opening opponenets in 2010. They came up against SK Zelenec and on past history you would think this was a formality for the away team. It certainly looked that way as SK Zelenec raced into a 4-1 lead by half-time. Goals from 2009 Prague Masters top goalscorer Jiri Jindra (2), Peter Brtka and Petr Hossler dwarfed the solitary strike from Lukas Vrba.

The Widow Makers were showing they had more about them in 2010 and were an improved team as they refused to roll over. Lukas Opartny reduced the deficit to 4-2 and then a second from Lukas Vrba made it 4-3. A point was within reach - which was unthinkable at half-time. Time was against the Widow Makers and SK Zelenec played out the rest of the game to record their second consecutive win and sit proudly on top of Group A with 6 points.

In Game 4 of Group A, Brighton & Hove Rockets were back in action against IDC. Both teams suffered opening round defeats and were looking to put their first points on the board. It was Brighton & Hove Rockets who struck first through captain Joe Di Fede to give his team the initiative. Matt Pell, scoring for the second consecutive game, made it 2-0 at half time.

In the second half the Rockets moved up a gear and left IDC trailing in their wake. Matt Pell scored his second of the game to make it 3-0 whilst Joe Di Fede went on to complete his hat-trick. Further goals from Chris McEntee and Gary Cox secured a 7-0 victory. Brighton & Hove Rockets moved into 3 rd place whilst IDC propped up the rest in 5th .
