Bure
Park Old Boys had just seen Peebles All Stars
open up a 5 point lead at the to over The Warriors
(1 game left) and Polonia Limerick (2 games
left). Bure Park Old Boys were still in the
equation – they were 6 points behind but with
two games remaining. They needed to win both
games and they could finish level with Peebles
All Stars on points and the tournament would
be decided by goal difference. They also had
to hope Polonia Limerick would fail to win their
last two games – but, Bure Park Old Boys and
Polonia Limerick would meet in the final game
so that was in their hands.
Pork
Vale had risen to fifth place in the table and
were only 3 points behind their opponents in
this game. A win here and in the final round
could still see them finish in the top half
of the table. Pork Vale never really got into
this particular fixture though as Bure Park
Old Boys flew out the traps.
Matt
Johnson gave Bure Park Old Boys a 1-0 lead before
Ian Mansley made it 2-0 – both men scoring their
second goal of the tournament. Nick Barnett
made it 3-0 to Bure Park Old Boys and it was
still only half-time. It was the most emphatic
first half of the tournament and the three points
were almost in the bag. If there was any doubt
or any hope of a Pork Vale comeback that was
extinguished when Matt Johnson's second of the
game put the game to bed. Final score, 4-0.
Bure Park Old Boys were now potentially one
result away from winning this tournament.
