3 rounds completed with 4 to go. At the start of Round 4 it was Bure Park Seniors versus Polonia Limerick as England met Poland. The English team had just secured their first point of the day so would come into this game with renewed hope. They were currently joint 5th but could go joint 3rd with a win. Polonia Limerick would be a tough opponent though. The Polish side were unbeaten with 4 points from 6. They currently resided in third position but could go joint top with victory.

Bure Park Seniors problem today had been conceding the first goal which had put them on the back foot in their previous three matches. It was to be a case of déjà vu as Bartek Kaczorek put Polonia Limerick 1-0 up in the first half.

Bure Park Seniors were yet to concede more than once in a game up until this point but the Polonia Limerick attach was beginning to look quite potent. They scored three in their previous game and were to match that tally here in the second half. There were two more goals for Bart Baranski as Polonia Limerick ran out 3-0 winners.

The result saw them climb above The Warriors on goal difference at the top of the group.

Next up on Pitch C was the clash between Los Amblos and The Warriors. T hese two teams had been drawn in the same group for the fourth tournament in a row between Mallorca 2017 and Lisbon 2022. At last year's Mallorca Veterans they avoided each other but were back in direct competition in Porto.

At the 2017 Mallorca Veterans Tournament they met in their respective final fixtures of Group B – it was a closely fought game which saw Los Amblos (playing as Crabtree Amblers) win 1-0. Ade Chester was the man on target. At the 2018 Algarve Veterans Tournament it finished all square at 1-1. Mike Petevinos put Los Amblos ahead before James Newton levelled thing up for The Warriors. At the 2019 Alicante Tournament it was another 1-0 win for Los Amblos thanks to a James Myers goal this time. The Warriors turned the tables in the 2022 Lisbon Veterans tournament as a Mark Brooksby double won it for his team, 2-0.

The Warriors came into this game joint level with Polonia Limerick at the top of the table. They were currently in second on goal difference. A draw would put them back on top but, to satisfy title aspirations, they really needed the three points. Los Amblos had lost 3-1 to Polonia Limerick first time out but then drew 2-2 with Bure Park Old Boys in their previous fixture.

At the end of Round 3, these teams were in 1st and 6th place respectively but on the field these two teams were very closely matched. This game was perhaps a good example of how close all teams in the SuperVets category were. Every game had been competitive to date. In fact, there was nothing to divide the teams in this match as both the first half and second half came and went with no score. We finished 0-0. A result that would preserve The Warriors unbeaten record, preserve their tournament clean sheet but would perhaps be damaging to their title charge.

Game 12 of Group B was Peebles All Stars versus Pork Vale. Peebles All Stars had made their best start to a tournament with us with 6 points from their first two games but they had tasted defeat for the first time in their previous match, albeit against The Warriors who were currently top of the table. The Warriors draw in the previous match opened the door for Peebles All Stars to go top again if they could defeat Pork Vale.

Pork Vale had played twice so far with an opening 3-1 defeat to Polonia Limerick and then a 1-1 draw with Bure Park Seniors. They'd been ahead in both of those games so would perhaps be a little disappointed with a return of 1 point from 6 so far. They would feel their performances possibly deserved more.

In this match, Pork Vale fell behind to the opening goal as Ryan Aitken opened his personal account for the day and put Peebles All Stars 1-0 up. It was Pork Vale's turn to recover from a goal down though as Andy Cross scored for the second game in a row. The match was level 1-1 at half-time.

We would not finish level at 1-1 though. There was to be a second half winner. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Andriy Moryev. It was his third goal in four games and a goal that would earn his team a crucial three points. It sent Peebles All Stars back to the top of the table.
