Round 3 started with Los Amblos making their second appearance of the day against Bure Park Old Boys. Los Amblos debuted at the 2016 Lisbon Veterans Tournament and it was quite a successful one. In the group phase they finished joint third (fourth on goal difference) as a last match 0-0 draw prevented them taking third place outright. They qualified for the Plate and Semi-Final success ensued as they beat Mavericks 1-0. They were to collect Runners-Up medals in the presentation as they were defeated 2-0 by Pioes in the Plate Final.

Since then they have been ever-present (Covid-effected years excepted) with the zenith of their achievements a Cup Semi-Final at the 2017 Mallorca Veterans. Today they opened up with a 2-0 defeat against Peebles All Stars. At half-time, they found themselves level with Bure Park Old Boys at 0-0. The goals flowed in the second half and Los Amblos fired themselves into a 2-0 lead. Ben Austin and Adrian Chester were the two men on target.

Bure Park Old Boys had won 1 and lost 1 so far. They were staring down the barrel of a second defeat but had renewed hope when Nathan Vicentijevic reduced the deficit to 2-1. The comeback was complete when Ian Mansley drew the teams level at 2-2. When the final whistle blew it was honours even and the two teams had to settle for a point each.

We went into Game 8 of Group B with Bure Park Seniors due to meet Pork Vale. Bure Park were our most experienced team in the tournament draw as they were making their 13 th appearance in our events. They were up against the newest addition to the ranks in the form of Pork Vale. The Bure Park Seniors squad had suffered two narrow defeats so far today (both 1-0) and were in need of turning good performances into points on the board.

Pork Vale had played just the one game so far which was a 3-1 defeat to a good Polonia Limerick team. They took a first half lead in that game but were pegged back before the break. Here against Bure Park Seniors they forged ahead again with Andy Cross the man on target. This time they retained their lead at half-time. However, they were unable to keep that lead until full-time. Simon Dearing was the man for Bure Park Seniors who helped them avoid another narrow 1-0 defeat. Dearing's goal levelled the match at 1-1 which proved to be the final result. It was a first point on the board for both teams.

The next game was Peebles All Stars versus The Warriors. Peebles All Stars were our early leaders in the SuperVets table with a 100% win record to date. The Warriors were not far behind with 4 points from 6. Both teams were yet to concede a goal in the tournament. The result of this match could well prove pivotal come the final group standings.

The two teams paths had crossed when Peebles All Stars met The Warriors' sister squad, The Maulers, at the 2023 Mallorca Veterans Tournament. 17 months ago it was Peebles All Stars who won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ronnie McEwen. McEwen was in the Peebles All Stars side today but The Warriors defence was able to prevent him scoring again. The Warriors were able to do what The Maulers couldn't in Mallorca and that was score against this Scottish defence. Mark Brooksby was the man to open the scoring and The Warriors lead 1-0 at half-time.

After the break, The Warriors extended the lead to 2-0 with Andy Chrascina giving his team a two goal cushion. Peebles All Stars had a mountain to climb now to get back into this. The Warriors went on to complete their third clean sheet in as many games. They collected their second victory of the day to move onto 7 points and up into first place in the table. The defeat saw Peebles All Stars slip into second place but they were still well positioned overall.
