Group B began with Telferscot FC (Eng) versus Villa Roca (Spa)

Telferscot FC made a first appearance in our tournaments at the 2016 Barcelona Fives. They began well with a 2-0 win over Ladzio before a 3-0 defeat to eventual runners-up, The Spice Boys. A second defeat was followed by a 0-0 draw with Italy's Atletico Bardino. They then came up against 2011 Valencia Fives & 2012 Krakow Trophy winners Skidmarks FC. It was a 3-1 defeat before a 1-1 draw versus 2008 Barca Fives winners Rapid Bosco Navas. They finished on a high with a 2-0 win over Bruton Black Cats to finish 5th of 8 teams. In the Trophy Quarter-Finals they left the competition to Giggs Boson FC, 3-0.

They then entered two teams into the 2017 Lisbon Veterans Tournament with 2 teams. Their second team was Telferscot Athletic. The Telferscot FC team strugged with 5 defeats and failed to qualify for the knock-out phase. The Telferscot Athletic FC team proved more successful with 2 wins from their group games in a really tough group that produced both Cup Finalists and 1 of the Plate Finalists. They reached the Plate Semi-Finals when they went out to the eventual Plate winners. Hopefully they will have a kinder draw in Mallorca.

It proved to be a tough opener for Telferscot though. Villa Roca got off to the perfect start. A Lee Baynes goal in each half saw them through to a 2-0 victory.

Match 2 was to be Bure Park Old Boys taking on The Special Ones.

Both of these teams played at the 2017 Lisbon Veterans Tournament. Bure Park Old Boys had two teams in Lisbon and one of those, Saga Louts, defeated The Special Ones 5-0 in the group phase. Two of those Saga Louts were in the line up today – Darren Campo and Jason Carr.

The Special Ones had six members of the squad return from Lisbon and they put on a much more competitive showing in Mallorca than they did in Lisbon in the corresponding fixture. It was The Special Ones who took the lead thanks to one of their debutants – James Davidson. Bure Park Old Boys hit back before half-time though as Matthew Johnson secured an equalizer.

The second half proved to be goal-less and so the teams shared the points. Only time would tell if this was a point gained or two points dropped.

The final team in Group B to start their challenge was Epsom Athletic. They were marking their debut in our tournaments. They took on Telferscot FC who had already begun their campaign and were looking to avenge a 2-0 loss from their first game.

The two teams played out a superb game that ebbed and flowed in each direction. It was the debutants who got off to a flyer as Paul Fitzpatrick held the honour of scoring their first goal in eurofootballfives.com competition. Lee Cliff doubled their advantage to give them a 2-0 cushion. Telferscot FC desperately needed to get back into the game and they were thrown a lifeline when Dom Stober scored his team's first goal of the day.

The second half kicked off with Epsom Ath leading 2-1 but Telferscot FC were soon to be level. It was Dom Stober with his second goal of the game who restored parity. Epsom Ath had seen a two goal lead evaporate but they were back in front again thanks to a Lee Cliff strike.

Could Epsom Ath retain the lead this time? Sadly for them, no. They conceded another equalizer and this time it was an own goal. The referee drew time on the match with the scores level at 3-3. It was a thrilling game and both teams had their first points on the board.

As we progressed with Group B we had Villa Roca versus Bure Park Old Boys.

Bure Park Old Boys were making a landmark 10th eurofootballfives.com tournament appearance with eurofootballfives.com The tradition dates back to the 2009 Prague Trophy and they have been ever-present since. After Prague they made a hat-trick of Valencia appearances from 2010 to 2012. Their achievements include a Plate Runners-Up medals (as Karma FC) in the 2010 Valencia Fives, the 2011 Wooden Spoon title (as Karma FC), claiming the 2012 Valencia Fives Trophy title (as Sporting Abeergut) and also a Cup Quarter-Final (as Saga Louts) in the same tournament before losing to the eventual winners – FC Miracle of Hungary.

In 2013, they swapped the fields of Valencia for the fields of Krakow with two squads – Saga Louts (5th in Group A) and Team Karma (4th in Group B) with Saga Louts going all the way to the Plate Final. They lead 3-0 at one stage but were hauled in by Awiw and eventually defeated on penalties. At the 2014 Bratislava Fives they competed as Saga Louts and Frankie's Footballing Fantasy with the teams finishing 4th and 3rd in their respective groups. Both teams qualified for the Plate Quarter-Finals – Frankie's Footballing Fantasy went out on penalties and Saga Louts went out to GSF Drunkerz (who eventually won the Plate and then the overall 2015 Bratislava Fives).

Their next appearance was at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament where Wheres Dave? drew a particularly tough group and finished 6th going onto the Trophy Semi-Finals where they lost 1-0 to Red Cow Belgrage. Saga Louts fared better in the group finishing 4th to qualify for the Plate. They lost in the Plate Quarter-Finals to Frank Hirth who went on to win the Plate (and also the Plate at the 2016 Prague Tournament).

Their 2016 adventure took them to the 2016 Riga Tournament with One Calamski and Saga Louts. One Calamski struggled in the group as they finished 6th. They went through to the Trophy Quarter-Finals and drew 0-0 with Cruz Del Sur B before winning 2-1 on pens. They then went out 4-2 to FC Maroon. Saga Louts had a more successful group phase with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats to finish third. A Plate Quarter-Final defeat saw them go out 5-2 to Red Cow Belgrade.

2017 saw them step up to the Veterans level for the first time. Their Saga Louts squad finished 5th in Group A, the Where's Dave squad finished 4 th in Group B. Where's Dave qualified for the Plate Semi-Finals but went out to Porto's Compact Records.

Today in Mallorca they had to settle for a draw in their opening game but they were ahead in this thanks to Roy McConnell. They lead 1-0 at half-time.

Villa Roca came storming back in the second half. Tommy Hamilton, Micky Griffin and Lee Baynes were all on target as they roared back to win 3-1.

The game that would take us to the half-way stage in Group B was The Special Ones versus Epsom Ath. Both teams had secured a point from their opening fixture – Epsom Ath 3-3 with Telferscot FC. The Special Ones 1-1 with Bure Park Old Boys.

There were currently 4 teams sat on 1 point each – all of them 5 points behind Villa Roca at the top of the table. A win for either of these teams here could see them close the gap on the league leaders. It would also put them in pole position for Cup qualification compared to the other teams sat on 1 point.

Lee Cliff scored twice in Epsom Ath's opening game and he was on target for a third time on the day to give his team the lead. It was a lead that his team would retain until the half-time break.

In the second half The Special Ones embarked on a comeback. First of all Nick Jones equalized and then Adam Arnold put them 2-1 up. It was the first time Epsom Ath had been behind today but they were to recover and get an equalizer of their own through Ben Duckett. Final score, 2-2.
