With
their first games under their belts it was Round
2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle
in to the tournament.
Up
next was Yac Club versus Fiorentina Turner 2.
Both these teams played at the 2017 Barcelona
Fives and a few of the Yac Club players may have
been familiar to their opposition as they played
as T Bashers in Barcelona. Fiorentina Turner 2
defeated T Bashers 4-1 last year, could they repeat
the feat here in Mallorca?
So
far today Yac Club had tasted a narrow defeat
whilst Fiorentina Turner 2 had secured an opening
game draw. Yac Club were to taste defeat for the
second time but this match proved to be a heavy
loss.
Fiorentina
Turner 2 enjoyed themselves in front of goal.
Alex Villers set them on their way before Nick
Parkinson, Matt Hanson (2), Jonas Kihlstrom and
Nick Parkinson again sealed a sensational victory.
Final score, 6-0.
Next
up on Pitch A was Purnell Youth 1 versus Bar Maruru.
Both
teams had lead their opening games 1-0 before
being pegged back to 1-1. Could either team go
on and get their first three points here? It was
Bar Maruru who hit the front for the second game
in a row. Fran Merida Garcia scored twice at the
2018 Mallorca Fives in May and he opened his personal
account here in September.
Bar
Maruru showed no signs of letting that lead slip
as Manuel Galvan Sastre made it 2-0 and then 3-0.
When Fran Medina Garcia made it 4-0 there was
no doubt in terms of the destination of the points
but there was still plenty of football to be played
in the game.
Jacob
Smith ensured it was not all one way traffic as
he made it 4-1. The goal only ever looked like
being a consolation as Pacquiao restored the four
goal advantage. The icing was put on the cake
by Manuel Galvan Sastre who completed his own
personal hat-trick and rounded off the scoring
in a comprehensive 6-1 win.
To
complete Round 2 we had Burritos versus Urbansport.
Round 1 of Group A had proved very tight with
2 draws and a victory that saw a late winner.
So far Round 2 had witnessed two one-side games
with 6-0 and 6-1 results.
Burritos
FC debuted with us back at the 2013 Barcelona
Fives entering two teams – Burritos FC and Burritos
FC with Mustard. Burritos FC were the more successful
of the 2 squads in Barcelona with 6 points from
4 games to finish 3rd in their group. Both squads
went out in the Quarter-Finals stage – Burrito
FC to JF & The Pullbacks, the “with Mustard”
squad to Trophy Winners Deportivo Dooradoyle.
They
returned to action at the 2016 Lisbon Tournament
and concentrated their powers into one squad.
Although they lost 1-0 to Ukraine's East United
in the first game they recovered with a 100% record
thereafter to top their group. They went on to
the Cup Semi-Final where they went out to the
eventual Cup winners – Parque Tejo (Por).
Their
most recent appearance was at the 2017 Vilnius
Tournament where they finished top of their group
again. They claimed 3 wins from 4 games as 3 teams
finished level on 9 points. Burritos had the best
goal difference though. In the Cup Quarter-Finals
they drew a strong Lithuanian side, Lilchicago.
They drew 1-1 in normal time but went out 2-1
on penalties.
Today
they opened up with a 1-0 win but fortunes were
reversed here as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Urbansport's Manuel Pardo Exposito scored the
only goal of the game.
