As we entered the final Round of games there was much to play for and the main talking point at the top was who would finish in the top two in order to guarantee Cup qualification? There were 3 teams battling it out for the 2 spaces and for the final Plate place it was effectively a straight fight between Coverton Road and Sportsman Arenal.

First up was FC Miracle versus Coverton Road. FC Miracle had to win and hope that one of East Compton Eagles and Team Extreme would drop points. A draw would be good enough if one of those teams lost by 3 goals – unlikely you would say based upon results so far today.

Coverton Road had Plate qualification in their own hands a win would secure that. A draw would be ok if Sportsman Arenal failed to win. A defeat would leave them sweating if Sportsman Arenal failed to win – it would be enough if the Spanish lost but would come down to goal difference if the Spanish drew.

It was advantage FC Miracle in the early stages as Janos Molnar fired home and they led at the break 1-0. Coverton Road were really up against it now and whilst they had been competitive all day results were just eluding them as the group reached its climax. 1-0 became 2-0 in the second half as Laszlo Zsolt sealed the points. All eyes were now on the following games to see where these two teams fate lay.

The final game of Group B was Team Extreme versus Sportsman Arenal. It was a must win game for both teams for different reasons. Team Extreme needed the win to make the Cup, Sportsman Arenal needed the win to make the Plate. A draw would see both miss their targets but Team Extreme would have the Plate to fall back on. Sportsman Arenal would simply be out.

FC Miracle and Coverton Road would be watching and hoping the result would go their way. FC Miracle cheering on Sportsman Arenal and Coverton Road cheering on Team Extreme as their fate would be determined by the two teams on the pitch.

It would be Sportsman Arenal (and FC Miracle) who would be cheering first as Sportsman took the lead and could they be on for their first win? An own goal from Agusto certainly didn't help their cause and there was renewed hope for Team Extreme (and Coverton Road). All of a sudden Sportsman Arenal and FC Miracle were anxious – it was like watching Soccer Saturday on the last day of the season. These were nervy times.

As the sands of time dropped away it was looking like FC Miracle & Coverton Road would be the main beneficiaries of the draw whilst the two teams slugging it out on the pitch would leave the field disappointed. Time ran out, the final whistle blew and it did indeed finish 1-1.
