The last round of fixtures threw up some intriguing ties and we began with Grant Thornton against L.I.T.S. Grant Thornton knew they had qualified for the Cup so you could forgive them for taking this game easy – they didn't. In 2012, Grant Thornton won their Group in both Budapest and Valencia so were looking for a fine hat-trick of group wins. Not only this, but in theory it would give them an ‘easier' Semi-Final match if they won Group A.

For L.I.T.S things were much more serious. Following an opening game win they were now on a run of three defeats (perhaps undeservedly so) and slipped to 5th position. They had to get something from this game and hope Son Gual couldn't match it in order to make the Plate.

The formbook would suggest a home win and in the early stages it was to be proved correct. Cyrille Segalini and Thibault Kerouredan scoried for Grant Thornton. It was too much for L.I.T.S who were unable to comeback and Cyrille Segalini would go on to make it 3-0 at full-time. Grant Thornton would have to wait for the result of Policia Mallorca v Skidmarks to see if they had done enough to be Group A champions.

Sadly for L.I.T.S it was to be farewell to them on the pitch as some close results just didn't go their way.

The penultimate match was the big one – Policia Mallorca versus Skidmarks. It meant a previous eurofootballfives.com tournament winner would miss out on the Cup. Who would it be?

Skidmarks certainly held the advantage as they only needed to avoid defeat to secure qualification. If they did win, by 3 or more, they would win the Group. I am sure qualification was their first target though.

Policia Mallorca only had one option – to win. They would need to win by 3 goals (unless Skidmarks scored) and then a 2 goal win would be enough.

There was plenty of tension in the game and at half-time we were still no nearer to knowing who would win this match, let alone the Group but the longer it went on the better it was for Grant Thornton. The two teams started the second half level at 1-1 (Antonio Perello Rabasco for Policia Mallorca, Luke Hatfield for Skidmarks).

As the game went on it got more and more nervy but Skidmarks were relatively comfortable. At the very end though they gave away possession from the goalkeepers throw out and presented Policia Mallorca with two very good chances. Neither could be converted and Policia Mallorca missed out.

It was a great result for Skidmarks and their quest for a 3rd tournament win in as many tournaments went on. Skidmarks went through in 2nd place, Grant Thornton were Group winners.

So 14 games down, 1 to go and it was a game to be played for pride. Son Gual met Beating Chastards as the former were looking for form going into the Plate and the latter were looking for the first goal and point of the tournament. The two teams almost certainly would finish 4 th and 6 th irrespective of the result barring anything ridiculous.

Son Gual were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Jose Luis Rodriguez and Fran. The chances of a Beating Chastards win seemed to be slipping. Could they grab a goal though? As the sands of time dropped through the hourglass the chances of this were slipping too until a magnificent crescendo to Group A. With practically the last kick of the game we got the biggest cheer of the day and the wildest celebrations of the day as Andy Shaw fired home to open the Beating Chastards account. A positive end to a tough day in a very tough group for them.
