FC Miracle went into their third fixture on the back of a much needed win and they faced the team immediately above them in the table – the unbeaten Team Extreme.

With just one point separating the top four teams these matches between the top four would be critical in deciding the Cup and Plate qualification places. FC Miracle were on the hunt for back-to-back eurofootballfives.com titles and they were beginning to find their form in this tournament. It was they who struck first in this game as Zoltan Kedves found the net.

In the second half Team Extreme struck equalized through Chika Kalu's third goal in as many games. Neither team was able to find a winner and we finished level at 1-1. Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained or 2 points dropped. I would think at this stage the two teams would be fairly content in avoiding defeat.

 
 
 

The next match was an opportunity for the two teams in 5th and 6th place to get back into the knock-out qualification race and a win for either would put them right back in the mix. A defeat would see the losers cut adrift at the foot of the table.

What followed was an extremely tight contest with defences on top and the forward lines of each team struggling to find a breakthrough. Half-time came and went with the teams deadlocked at 0-0. Full-time also came and went with the teams still level at 0-0.

The draw whilst a good result in itself, in the context of the group table did not really help either side as the teams remained 5th and 6th. However, there was still 6 points to play for and still plenty of hope.

 
 
 

The final game of Round 3 saw East Compton Eagles face Coverton Road in another “Top 4” contest. Given the two previous draws in this 3rd Round of fixtures a win here would see the victors steal a march on their Group B opponents and claim 1st place in the table. A draw and we'd be pretty much as we were at the end of Round 2.

In the opening two fixtures Andy La Niece in the Coverton Road goal had yet to be beaten….until now. East Compton Eagles found a way through the Coverton Road not once but twice in the first half as they took control of this tie early on. Rich Manns and Andy Cockrean with the goals.

The second half saw Will Rhodes pull a goal back for Coverton Road and it was game on at 2-1. East Compton Eagles had enough in the tank to hold on for victory though as they opened up a 2 point lead at the top of Group B. Coverton Road slipped to third but were only a point off the Cup qualification places.
