With just one point separating first and fourth place it was tight at the top. Grant Thornton were the first of the four teams at the top to advance their progress when they met a Son Gual side looking to claim their first goal and first win of the tournament.

Son Gual had been tough opposition so far and been tight at the back conceding just the one goal so far. That was to change though when they met a Grant Thornton side who appeared to be going from strength to strength.

Cyrille Segalini opended the scoring for the team from Paris before Fateh Bekhouche scored for the second game running. Moments later Bekhouche hit the post as Grant Thornton were rampant but they would have to settle for a 2-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half, 2-0 became 3-0 as Olivier Douard scored his first of the day. The game was effectively over but there was time for Miguel Pol to score his team's first goal. It was only to be a consolation in this fixture though as the final score was 3-1.

Beating Chastards were up next with another unenviable game – Policia Mallorca. The Chastards had drawn one tough group for their introduction to eurofootballfives.com football.

Policia Mallorca were growing into this tournament and they were beginning to play the football befitting of the 2011 champions. Antonio Perello Rabasco and Jose Manuel Delpa Montoya put them in control, 2-0, at the interval.

After the re-start Jose Ignacio Bautista Buzon scored twice for 4-0 before Jaime Castro Gandesa completed the scoring for a 5-0 victory. In a tight group at the top of the table this goal difference could be crucial.

Beating Chastards continued their search for a European win.

Only Olympic Phil Babb and Athletico Do Hollande have had such a successful introduction to eurofootballfives.com competition as Skidmarks by winning their first two tournaments. Olympic Phil Babb won their first 4 tournaments (Amsterdam 2008, Algarve 2009, Prague 2010 and Budapest 2011) and Athletico Do Hollande won the Algarve Open in 2010 and 2011. Skidmarks could become only the second team to claim three titles if successful again.

Like Grant Thornton and Policia Mallorca they were growing into the tournament. To keep pace with these two sides they must win the next game. L.I.T.S would be no pushovers though and they knew a win for them would see them rise to third and just a point behind those two teams leaving Skidmarks in 4 th . Those were the stakes on this game.

We enjoyed three goals in the opening period with Skidmarks edging the proceedings 2-1. Goals from Neil Taylor and Luke Hatfield outgunning the strike from Jordan Guthrie.

In the second half the next goal was always likely to be crucial and it was claimed by Seb Palin for Skidmarks to make it 3-1 and put them in an unassailable position. The win put them part of a 3-team tie for top spot at the summit of Group A.
