These two teams had met before earlier in the day. On that occasion Barrymoore's Swimming Club emerged victorious with a fine 1-0 win as a Ryan Reed goal ensured the win. A repeat would be just what the doctor ordered for the English team whilst Alea Iacta Est needed to change the script to win this competition for a second time.

The match got off to a flying start with Alea Iacta Est taking the early lead. Pedro Silvera, who had been instrumental throughout the tournament, found the back of the net, marking his fifth goal of the day and giving Alea Iacta Est a 1-0 advantage. Barrymoore's Swimming Club, however, responded with determination. They equalized before halftime through Dave Finnigan, ensuring the score was level at 1-1 as the teams went into the break.

The second half saw more end-to-end action. Barrymoore's Swimming Club took the lead with a goal from Ryan Reed, his sixth of the tournament, putting them 2-1 up and giving them a crucial edge. Alea Iacta Est wasn't ready to concede the Plate Final without a fight. They pressed forward and managed to draw level once more with a goal from Arkadiusz Chrostowski, making it 2-2.

Despite both teams' best efforts, no further goals were scored, and the match ended 2-2. The contest was a testament to the high level of competition and the battling spirit of both teams, with the Plate trophy still up for grabs. The draw ensured that the Plate Final would be decided by a penalty shootout, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling tournament.

Of these two teams, in a combined 11 tournament appearances, only Alea Iacta Est had appeared in a penalty shootout before. The omens were good for them as they won it 6-5 v FC Foreigntina at the Cup SF stage of the 2020 Warsaw Tournament.

Alea Iacta Est were first to step up to the spot. Kamil Zawada confidently converted his penalty, putting his team ahead 1-0. Ryan Reed matched his composure, placing his shot into the top left corner to make it 1-1. Jakub Slezingier then kept the momentum going for Alea Iacta Est, sending Barrymoore's goalkeeper Tsvetan Nikolov the wrong way to make it 2-1. Richie Murphy responded for Barrymoore's Swimming Club, executing a similar move against Pawel Szymanski to level the score once more at 2-2. It was 2-2 in normal time and now 2-2 in the shoot-out – as these teams were locked together.

We reached a critical moment when Pedro Silvera's penalty struck the post, leaving a golden opportunity for the English team. The pressure was on Amir Bakkar for Barrymoore's Swimming Club, who had the chance to clinch the victory. Bakkar stepped up and delivered a near-identical penalty to Reed's, finding the back of the net and securing a 3-2 win in the shootout.

Alea Iacta Est fought valiantly but it was not to be on this occasion. We'd like to thank them for attending and offer our commiserations for the Final. They could not have come much closer to glory. They earned runners-up medals in the presentation to cushion the blow and showed they had enough ability to win in the future.

Many congratulations to our winners – Barrymoore's Swimming Club. A superb win for them and thoroughly deserved. They showed nerves of steel in that shoot-out. It crowned a superb performance and was the culmination of hard work in Barcelona (twice), Lisbon and now here in Krakow.
