Ball Bashers won their first tournament with us on debut at the 2022 Amsterdam Sixes. World Pinteur were so close to making it a winning start when they competed at the 2016 Lisbon Tournament. In Group A they recorded 4 wins out of 4 with 6 goals scored and 0 conceded. They met Fundacao Benfica in the Cup Semi-Finals and won the game 1-0. They then met Parques Tejo in the Cup Final. They won 2-0 against them in the group phase and were 2-0 up in the final before Parques Tejo pegged back the French to 2-2. The 2016 Lisbon Tournament would be determined on penalties and it was the Portuguese who were victorious, 2-0 in the shoot-out. They had begun well today with 4 points from 6.

Ball Bashers were on even better form with two 3-0 wins so far today. Neither team had conceded a goal today in this top of the table clash. Although relatively early in the day this was a potentially crucial fixture in deciding the winner of Group A. The first half saw both teams battle for control, but it was the French side, World Pinteur, who found an early breakthrough. They were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box. Benoit Botteau confidently stepped up and converted the spot-kick to give World Pinteur a 1-0 lead, putting the Ball Bashers under pressure for the first time in the tournament.

However, Ball Bashers, with their experience and resilience, responded quickly. Ben Williams, who had been in good form, found space inside the box and equalised with a clinical finish, levelling the game at 1-1. The second half was a more cagey affair as both sides tightened up defensively. The game ended with the teams locked at 1-1. Both teams would have been content with the result, as it kept them firmly in the race for the top spots in Group A. The draw saw Ball Bashers' perfect record end but kept their unbeaten run intact, while World Pinteur remained a tough team to beat.

At the 2021 Krakow Trophy, Solly March FC opened up with three superb victories. 1-0 against Alea Iacta Est (2022 Krakow Veterans champions), 6-1 against Luffs and then 1-0 against FC Foreigntina. Defeat in the final group game decider (4-1 to Lanky Londoners) meant they finished 2 nd but still qualified for the Cup. They went out 2-0 in the Semi-Finals to eventual champions Banerka. Today had been a bit more of a struggle with a 1-1 draw and 3-0 defeat (albeit to the league leaders). The English team were up against Big Time Krakow in Round 3.

The first half saw Big Time Krakow, who were looking to build upon their Round 2 victory, push forward with intent, and their pressure was rewarded when Sebastian Quinonez found himself in the right place at the right time to give the Polish side a 1-0 lead. After the break, Solly March FC came out with determination, pressing for an equaliser. Their efforts paid off when Tony Wood took advantage of a well-worked move and calmly finished to level the game at 1-1. It was a deserved goal for the English side, who had played well today without reward.

In the end, the game finished 1-1, with both teams taking a point that kept their hopes alive in the group. Solly March FC would have been pleased with their second-half response, while Big Time Krakow would be left to rue missed opportunities to claim all three points from a position of strength.

To complete Round 3 we had RSC Andylecht versus Third Degree Burnley on Pitch C.

With both teams starting the day on 1 point, this was a crucial match for both teams as they aimed to climb the Group A table. Third Degree Burnley were coming off a solid 0-0 draw against World Pinteur, and were hoping to build on that performance, while RSC Andylecht sought their first win.

Third Degree Burnley started brightly, and their efforts were rewarded with their first goal of the tournament. Jake Morgan broke the deadlock, giving the Lancashire team a 1-0 lead and some much-needed momentum. However, RSC Andylecht responded quickly, showing their quality in attack. John Wrigley, already on the scoresheet in each of the previous rounds, equalised for RSC Andylecht, turning the tide of the match. The Belgian sounding team in Colombian shirts then took the lead before the break, with Josh Thorpe finding the back of the net to make it 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half, RSC Andylecht kept the pressure on, preventing Third Degree Burnley from mounting a comeback. Late on, Ashley Clews added a third goal, sealing a relatively comfortable 3-1 victory for RSC Andylecht despite the early scare.

The win moved RSC Andylecht up to 3rd in the table, while Third Degree Burnley, despite a spirited performance, remained searching for their first win of the tournament.
