FC
Vicars Dish were looking to build on their solid
opening game performance in game 4 of group D.
On the back of a 0-0 draw they continued to keep
it tight at the back but added goals to their
performance against RS Ocean Village. It's a great
combination to have and it saw them open up a
2-0 lead. RS Ocean Village pulled a goal back
in the second half to set up a grandstand finish
but it proved to be too little too late as they
suffered their second 2-1 defeat on the bounce.
Game
5 saw a top of the table clash as FC Vicars Dish
take on Hutnik. The Polish team had already secured
qualification and a draw or victory would see
FC Vicars Dish join them in the elite top 8 Cup
competition. A defeat would mean they had to hope
JNJ Global Services did not better their own result
against RS Ocean Village. The game did not start
well for them though as Hutnik opened the scoring
to lead 1-0. It was a lead they were to hold on
to right up until the end and eventually ran out
3-1 victors. All eyes would now be on the final
game of the opening group phase.
RS
Ocean Village knew their fate lay in the Plate
but JNJ Global Services knew that a win would
see them make the Cup. They would need to win
by two goals or a one goal win of 3-2, 4-3, 5-4
or better. At half time this was still on the
cards although they were cutting it fine with
the teams level at 1-1. Assuming they didn't concede
could they find the two goals they needed? When
they made it 2-1 it was game on although RS Ocean
Village were not just making up the numbers and
not giving up. In the end the match finished 2-1
and they denied their opponents. JNJ Global Services
would finish 3rd on goals scored whilst RS Ocean
Village unlucky to prop up the table in 4 th having
been on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline in each
of their games.
