Bristol
Bridge Supporters were looking to make it two
wins out of two when they met DHL Prague Blue
who were looking to avoid two defeats in two.
If it's possible to have a form book after one
game each (we don't think it is) it was thrown
out the window as Adeogun Oluwatosin, a regular
goalscorer in eurofootballfives.com competition,
opened the scoring for the Czech team. It was
a lead they would take into half-time. In the
second half the teams shared a goal each through
Lee Roberts and Oluwatosin again to give DHL Prague
Blue the three points. Both teams would go into
the final game with a chance to reach the Cup.
One
team that already knew they could not make the
Cup were Sobieski so DHL Prague Blue must have
fancied their chances against Sobieski who were
still looking for their opening point of the tournament.
With nothing to play for other than pride maybe
the Polish team relaxed and they scored the first
goal in this contest. DHL Prague Blue had to win
this game and then wait for results from the other
game to see if they had done enough to make the
Cup. They were struggling to win this game though
and their third consecutive game finished 2-1.
Unfortunately for them it was a repeat of their
opening 2-1 defeat rather than their most recent
2-1 win. The result meant that Sobieski joined
them on 3 points with an identical goal difference.
Head to head results came into play and Sobieski
would leapfrog their Czech opponents.
Another
team on 3 points was Bristol Bridge Supporters.
A draw would now be good enough for them and any
other result likely to lead to the Plate unless
it was by just one goal and they had scored at
least one goal. It was potentially very complicated
and looked like we may be going that way as they
slipped to a 1-0 half-time deficit thanks to Shaun
Miller's goal putting Eagles Youth ahead. Eagles
youth were aiming to emulate PKG Real Estate with
a 100% group record but Bristol Bridge Supporters
were not beaten. They were back level in the second
half and when the referee blew the final whistle
on the action they had earned a 1-1 draw and the
point they needed to qualify for the Cup. |
