As
we began the semi-finals we only knew one thing
– that the final would be Poland versus England
. The first semi-final was to be an all England
affair between Pimp My Side FC and Eagles Youth
in the top half of the draw. The bottom half would
see an all Polish match-up in Wola v Hutnik.
When
Pimp My Side FC entertained Eagles Youth it was
a North versus South clash that saw the Geordie
boys take on the Southerners of New Milton Eagles.
Northern might prevailed as Pimp My Side FC took
an early lead which they showed no signs of letting
slip. Try as they might Eagles Youth could not
find the goal to get back into the game and in
the end Pimp My Side scored a second to kill the
game and a third to rub salt in the wounds of
their opposition. Their place in the final was
assured. Eagles Youth participation on the pitch
was over but they had the consolation of cheering
on their Old Boys in the Plate Final to look forward
to.
The
all Polish semi-final was a tough game with both
sides proving physical and determined. It was
a blood and thunder match short of goal scoring
opportunities and followed a similar pattern to
Wola's previous game where they seemed to be the
more defensive team as Hutnik looked the more
likely winners. Wola would hope to get a goal
on the break but it never came and unlike their
game versus PKG Real Estate they could not keep
a clean sheet to take the game to penalties. That
was thanks to the goalscoring touch of Azmatys
Jacek who pounced to score the only goal of the
game in the second half.
Hutnik
were in their first eurofootballfives.com final.
