Round 7 began with EDC2 and DePuy Blackpool. Let's have a look at what was at stake for the two teams:

EDC2: Whatever the result of this game they would finish 7th but at least they could go into the Plate competition with a spring in their step. We have seen teams before turn their form around on the back of a win and go on to Plate glory.

DePuy Blackpool: Due to the fixture list they could no longer qualify for the Cup. The best they could finish was 5th. They were 3 points off fourth place but Maidenhead and Leeds One United were due to play each other in Round 7.

DePuy Blackpool were looking to get their second win of the tournament and they were to achieve it. There was to be only the one goal in the game and that was claimed by Robbie Hunter – a European match winner. Both teams would compete in the Plate this afternoon.

The last group game on Pitch B was to be JNJ Poland versus Actelion FC. The final round of fixtures would all be played simultaneously so we had to look at the permutations for the teams at kick-off. However, we are sure subs would be keeping tabs on progress of proceedings on the other pitches.

At kick-off, both teams knew they had qualified. If JNJ Poland could finish off with a win then they would walk off with the Group B victory. If it was a draw they would finish level with JNJ Turkey on points but JNJ Turkey would win Group B on goal difference. If Actelion FC were to win by 2 goals or more then they would win Group B. A draw or defeat would see Actelion FC finish third.

JNJ Poland had come off the back of an intense win over JNJ Turkey and no doubt the chance to finish above JNJ Turkey in the group was a great incentice for this game. They also looked to be hitting peak form at just the right time. Slawomir Ziemak scored his fourth goal of the competition to put JNJ Poland 1-0 up. It was 2-0 before the break thanks to a Jacek Banas goal.

In the second half JNJ Poland completed an excellent win. Piotr Ganko's fourth goal of the day and Szymon Krupka's fourth consecutive clean sheet meant the Group B win was going to Warsaw. It was the second year in a row they had won their group.

For Actelion FC it was a disappointing result but it should not effect their spirits. Despite defeat they had qualified for the Cup on their debut in the event. They were just 3 games potentially from glory.

The final game of Group B was almost the first knock-out game of the day in the sense that it was a straight shoot-out for Cup qualification. At the start of play Leeds One United possessed 7 points, Maidenhead had earned 6 points. A win for either would see them finish in fourth place and qualify for the Cup. A draw would see Leeds One United through.

Maidenhead were the team in form having collected 6 points from the last 6 available. Leeds One United had collected 1 point over the same period although it does not tell the full story. That point was a good one against JNJ Turkey.

With the game underway it was Leeds One United who hit the front with Joshua Lynn on target again. The pressure was really on Maidenhead now. For Leeds One United they could finish in third place. At half-time they lead 1-0 and Actelion FC were trailing 2-0 so goal difference was working in the English team's favour.

They boosted their chances further when Joshua Lynn made it 2-0 (and JNJ Poland were now 3-0 up on Actelion FC). The game finished at 2-0 and Leeds One United did indeed finish in third place.

Maidenhead's revival was over – they just gave themselves a little too much to do at the end. For the first time, they missed out on Cup qualification.
