The Group A table was beginning to take shape but with 6 games each in the group stage there was still time for teams to make a move but it would need to happen now. The top four qualified for the Cup so it kept everyone interested.

Klopp & Co were on the cusp with the teams in 3rd to 5th position all level on 6 points. They were just 3 points behind the two teams above them. One of those teams was JNJ High Wycombe. They were joint top with a game in hand with a 100% record and yet to concede a goal.

These were out two top-scoring teams today scoring 9 goals each. These two teams had scored 18 of the 30 goals scored in Group A so far. You may well think this would be a goal-fest – the opposite was true though. We had to settle for a 0-0 draw. Only time would tell if this was a point gained or two points dropped.

Next up was Beeston Operation Leeds versus De Puy Synthes Switzerland. Beeston Operation Leeds could move up to a share of second position if they won here. They had 2 wins from 3 games so far.

DePuy Synthes Switzerland had 3 wins out of 4 including a sensational win over JNJ Russia in the last game. A fourth win here would see them move 2 points ahead of JNJ High Wycombe and lead Group A. A draw would see them stay second on goal difference.

Group A was proving really entertaining with the top 5 in particular proving they were evenly matched. Beeston Operation were enjoying their best start to a JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament yet and that was set to continue.

Aidan Gallagher got off the mark in Round 4 and he was on the goal trail again here in Round 5. In the first half he gave his team the lead which they would retain until half-time. In the second half he moved on to 3 goals for the day as his team rounded off a superb 2-0 win. Beeston Operation Leeds were up to 3rd, Depuy Synthes Switzerland dropped to 4th.

The final thing to wrap up Round 5 of Group A was JNJ Russia versus Nordic Vikings. JNJ Russia missed out on the chance of making it 10 wins out of 10 in Budapest when they lost in their last game. Rather harshly, it saw them slip from second to fifth in the table. They had a chance to climb back up the table if they could defeat Nordic Vikings.

Nordic Vikings were struggling at the foot of the table. They had 2 narrow defeats (1-0, 2-1) but rather worryingly they lost 6-0 in their last game. Could they recover?

If they were to do so they would need to come from behind. Captain Alexander Rimskiy set Russia on their way. Before half-time Alexey Medvedev made it 2-0. After the break, JNJ Russia eased away from their opponents. Andrey Sheremetyev started the scoring again in the second half to make it 3-0. Alexey Khrustalev and Evgeny Zhilyanin completed the scoring for 5-0. It was a third clean sheet in four games for Anton Smirnov.

Nordic Vikings slipped to the foot of the table on goal difference.
