We began Round 4 with EDC1 versus Beeston Operation Leeds.

At the 2017 event in Bratislava Beeston Operation Leeds were one of three teams to finish in joint third in Group A. The teams would be separated by goal difference and as such Beeston Operation Leeds would end up in fifth position. As we began Round 4, they found themselves in fifth position again. However, they did have a game in hand on most of those teams around them.

EDC1 needed to turn their form around. So far they had played 3 and lost 3. They were looking for their first points and first goals of the day. It was not too late to kickstart their form as a win would put them in joint fourth position. However, they were to fall a goal behind in the first half here. Aidan Gallagher scored the goal that put Beeston ahead.

In the second half, Harry Jones second goal of the tournament doubled the advantage. It was enough to see off the Irish challenge. Dave Gregory kept his second clean sheet in three games as his team moved into a share of third position.

The next game on Pitch B in Group A was Nordic Vikings versus Klopp & Co. Nordic Vikings were looking to break their duck in terms of points. Klopp & Co were looking to bounce back from defeat with a win for the second time today.

After Klopp & Co lost their opening game they recovered to win 3-0. They had just lost to DePuy Synthes Switzerland and what followed here was the biggest win of the day. Klopp & Co hit Nordic Vikings for six – both literally and metaphorically.

The first half was relatively serene with Klopp & Co opening up a 2-0 lead. Joren Mertens was on target not once but twice as the team from Belgium were in control. In the second half there were fireworks. Stef Dehouwer made it 3-0 before Christophe Van Den Bogaert made it 4-0. Joren Mertens then capped a fine personal performance as he completed his hat-trick. Bert Meeus finished off the rout to make it 6-0.

It was a great win for Klopp & Co who had also done wonders for their goal difference.

The only thing left to settle in Round 4 was DePuy Synthes Switzerland versus JNJ Russia. At the start of Round 4, these two teams sat in third and second position respectively on 6 points. With JNJ High Wycombe sitting out on Round 4, the winner of this game could join High Wycombe at the summit of Group A.

On our last visit to Budapest with the JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament in 2013, JNJ Russia won the entire tournament. They secured 7 wins in 7 games and boasted the tournament the top goalscorer as Artem Khodas scored 13 goals. There was no Khodas on the team sheet this year but JNJ Russia already had 2 wins from 2 games today. Could they make it a historic 10 th successive win in the Hungarian capital?

The short answer to that is no. DePuy Synthes Switzerland put in arguably their best performance of the day. At half-time, there was nothing between the two teams. We changed ends all square at 0-0.

In the second half Abdoul-Aziz Traore put the Swiss ahead. If JNJ Russia hoped to maintain their 100% Budapest record they needed a goal but they fell further behind as Antonio Sileo made it 2-0 to DePuy Synthes Switzerland. It was a stunning win as they swapped places with JNJ Russia in the league table.
