Last but not least, we come to Group D where the group began with Scandittack FC versus Ben's Bellends. Scandittack FC (Ger) were on debut in the 2013 Berlin Fives and made an impressive start to eurofootballfives.com competition. They finished 2nd in their group and qualified for the Cup. They then played Cheesecake FC in the Quarter-Finals and went out 3-2 via Golden Goal despite being the better team (even their opponents said so).

Ben's Bellends were the sister squad of Fred's Fairys and were here in Berlin to celebrate the stag weekend of Ben Clissold. The stag helped himself to a goal in this fixture but was unable to prevent his team slipping to a 5-1 defeat.

There was a hat-trick for Karl-Andreas Flittner who was ably supported by goals from Thore Wilke and Torben Godskessen.

Match 2 in Group D saw FC Auslander meet Frank Hirth A . FC Auslander were on debut in eurofootballfives.com competition although some of their players had played in previous year's due to their close links with Hasanheide Hotspur.

Frank Hirth B had made a good start in Group A so the pressure was on Frank Hirth A to match their colleagues here in Group D and they didn't disappoint. Just as the B team had started off with a win so did the A team as they completed a more than solid 4-1 win.

Despite a goal for Alejandro Macias Sanchez for FC Auslander the English team completed a comfortable win thanks largely to a Rohit Julani hat-trick. There was also a first goal of the day for Matthew Limb.

The final team to get underway in Group D was 3 Lions FC. It was appearance number 4 for Chris Baginsky's 3 Lions FC. 3 Lions made their debut in the 2008 Barca Fives coming very close to going home with a trophy when they finished runners-up in the Plate competition. They were on fire in the knock-out stage with a 4-1 win over the CSF in the quarter-finals and a 6-1 win over the 2008 Prague Masters Plate winners, Prisoners, in the semi-finals. They then fell at the last hurdle against Czech team DHL Prague 3-1 in the final. They returned to action in the 2009 Amsterdam Fives where they were outstanding in the group phase winning 10 points out of 12 to take Group A (only a 1-1 draw with the CSF prevented a 100% record) before a surprise Cup quarter-final exit. Their last appearance was at the 2011 Mallorca Tournament where they finished 3 rd in their 6-team group. They went on to the Plate Semi-Finals where they lost narrowly (2-1) to eventual winners FC Dukesfield. Berlin is a welcome return for 3 Lions FC.

They were up against Scandittack FC who already had a 5-1 win under their belts but the German team were to end up as the losing team on this occasion. Goals from Chris Baginsky and Thomas Nolan (2) secured a superb opening 3-0 win for the 3 Lions FC.

Ben's Bellends were next in action against FC Auslander as two teams who came away from their opening fixtures empty handed came face to face. If either team could claim victory here they would make it a four-way tie at the summit of Group D whereas the losers would be cut adrift. A draw would leave both teams in fourth and fifth struggling to make up the ground on the teams at the top.

It was a pretty even game that saw FC Auslander enter half-time with a slender 1-0 lead thanks to Alejandro Macias Sanchez's second goal in as many games. After the break Paul Whitehead equalised for 1-1.

For reasons touched on above a draw would not be the best result in the world so could either team grab that crucial and valuable victory. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was the stag Ben Clissold scoring for the second time in the tournament and earning all three points for his team.

The game that brought us to the halfway stage of Group D was Frank Hirth A and 3 Lions FC. Both teams had won their opening fixtures and were part of a four-team log jam at the top of Group D. A win in this game would give the victor the luxury of a three point lead going into the second half of Group D.

It was first blood to Frank Hirth A as they took a 1-0 lead into half-time. After the break the game opened up and there was ebb and flow to the game. Either team could have won it and when the referee blew for full-time it was Frank Hirth who had earned a narrow 3-2 win. Matt Limb had added two goals to his strike in the first game and Jamie Spriddle scored his first of the day.

For 3 Lions FC there was a third tournament goal for Thomas Nolan and Alex Mott also bagged one from the penalty spot. 3 Lions FC were part of a congested mid-table but Frank Hirth B lead the way at the halfway stage.
