Two groups down, two to go as we turn our attentions to Group C. The first game saw Deportivo Dooradoyle drawn against It's Back – both regulars on the eurofootballfives.com circuit.

Deportivo Dooradoyle (Ire) made their debut at the 2011 Amsterdam Fives. They reached the Plate Quarter-Finals with success over Goals Aloud (Wal). In the Semi-Finals they were victorious 3-1 over CEPL of Holland (who'd later become 2012 Amsterdam Fives winners) before a narrow defeat in the final to Rigford Seahawks (also 2009 Krakow Trophy & 2012 Berlin Fives Cup winners and 2009 Prague Trophy Plate winners). In the 2012 Algarve Open they drew a tough group and finished 4 th to make the Plate again. Their day ended against French side CFC B at the Quarter-Final stage on this occasion. In 2013, Barcelona was their destination of choice where they had a very successful day – they entered two teams and won both the Plate and Trophy competitions.

They were back to concentrate their powers into one squad for Berlin and it seemed to work well as they secured a 3-1 thanks to Dave Daly (2) and Wayne Wallace. For It's Back (more on them later) there was a goal for Tom Brunt – celebrated in some style.

Match 2 in Group C saw the first of two German teams in the group, Sturm Holzwurm, begin their campaign against English side Doddsy Stag B. Sturm Holzwurm were making their 2nd appearance in our tournaments and their 2nd at the Berlin Fives. Their previous appearance was in the 2012 Berlin Fives where they drew the Group of Death that featured eventual winners, Rigford Seahawks. They finished 5th in their 6 team group.

We've already seen how Doddsy Stag A had fared in Group B so could their B team impress also in Group C. They certainly got off to a superb start as they saw off their opponents 4-1.

There were goals from Ian Wallace (2), Neil Barratt and Ben Surr. Doddsy Stag A and Stag B had both started with a win!

Hasanheide had sat patiently during the first two games but they would begin their 2014 Berlin Fives challenge next up on Pitch C against Deportivo Dooradoyle. Hasanheide Hotspur (Ger) debuted in the 2012 Berlin Fives with 3 squads – Bulls, Donkeys and Camels. The Camels and The Bulls both qualified for the Cup with the former going through as unbeaten Group A champions. Both teams exited at the Quarter-Final level. In 2013 they entered one team and concentrated their skills into a very good side. They won Group C with four wins out of four to progress to the Cup Quarter-Finals. This year they did advance to the Semi-Finals courtesy of a hard fought 3-2 Golden Goal win over SLFN Y before losing out 3-1 to France's Luminy Wolves. Could they go one step further and make the Cup Final this year?

Deportivo Dooradoyle came into the game on the back of victory and would have to work very hard to make that 2 wins out of 2. It was honours even at the break, 0-0.

At full time Hasanheaide Hotspur had managed to pull away for victory with Richard Hanley and Eamonn O'Neill scoring. Final score, 3-0.

It's Back and Sturm Holzwurm both started life in Group C with defeats and so here was an opportunity to kickstart their 2014 Berlin Fives challenge.

It's Back were the most capped team in the tournament making appearance #5 in eurofootballfives.com competition. They made their debut in the 2010 Barcelona Fives where they finished second in their 6-team group before being knocked out in the Cup Semi-Finals, 2-1, by eventual champions Magic Monkeys. In the 2011 Prague Masters they reached the Plate Semi-Finals before going down 2-0 to Ireland's Saipan FC. Their 3 rd appearance was in the 2012 Budapest Fives where they claimed 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in their group to qualify for the Cup. They went out in the Quarter-Finals to 2009 Barca Fives winners Luminy Wolves of France. Their most recent tour was the 2013 Krakow Trophy which was their least successful on the pitch but did include a sensational comeback from 3-0 down to equalise 3-3 in the last minute of the game.

It was first blood to It's Back here as James “Buzz” Burrows gave them a first half lead. Sturm Holzwurm were not to be beaten though as the “Kayser” equalised and earned a 1-1 draw. Only time would tell if this was 1 point gained or 2 points dropped for the respective teams.

We had two teams with wins under their belts in their opening games come face to face in the final fixture before the halfway point in Group C. Those teams were Doddsy Stag B and Hasanheide Hotspur. A place at the top of the table was at stake in this game.

Daniel Potter got Doddsy Stag B off to the perfect start early on but they were quickly pegged back by the Hadsanheide imports from Ireland to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Could either team find a winner after the break? In a word, yes. We were to witness just one more goal and that goal went to Hasanheide Hotspur who claimed all 3 points and a second win that put them in command of Group C after all the teams had completed two games. Richard Hanley and Eamonn O'Neill with the goals again.
