The
first final of the day was the Wooden Spoon Final
as the two teams would battle it out for the coveted
prize of literally a wooden spoon!
The
two teams on show were the El Dude Brothers and
No Janesy No. Despite being in the Wooden Spoon
these two teams were pretty decent sides and we
were looking forward to a cracking final. The
El Dude Brothers were on a run of Loss-Loss-Draw-Draw-Win.
Could they keep that run going?
No
Janesy No had just bagged their first win and
it is amazing what a confidence boost that can
be even if earlier results have gone against you.
The two teams applied themselves well to the task
in end and in the opening period there was just
the one goal in it as Nick Doubtfire popped up
at just the right time to net his first goal of
the day.
We've
mentioned before today how crucial first goals
in games can be and they can so often be decisive
as it dictates the pattern for the rest of the
game. The El Dude Brothers would have to attack
and take more and more chances to try and find
an equalizer. Inevitably gaps appear at the other
end and if the opposition can capitalize on the
counter then they can finish games off. That's
what happened here as Chris Pepper made it 2-0
and sealed the win.
Our
commiserations go to the El Dude Brothers and
our congratulations go to No Janesy No as winners
of the 2013 Berlin Fives Wooden Spoon.
