The 2013 Berlin Fives Plate Final would be contested by Saipan FC (Ire) and Team Geek (Eng).

Saipan FC were no strangers to eurofootballfives.com finals and this was their third. On both previous occasions they had finished Runners-Up and both narrowly to a Golden Goal. Could it be third time lucky for them?

Team Geek were on debut and riding the crest of a wave at the moment. Since a slow start against top notch opposition ABC United and GFC Transylvania they had gone on a run of Win-Draw-Win-Win. If they could keep that going they'd have a trophy to collect in the presentation.

Saipan FC were flying at the moment though scoring 15 goals without reply so we expected a hard-fought tie and that is exactly what we got. Saipan FC's run ended early on though as Team Geek struck early through Dan Jackson. Although they'd gone behind Saipan FC knew they had time on their side to recover and they hit back before the interval as Julian Cornelius slotted home goal number 7 for him on the day.

So half-time and it was 1-1. Who could summon up that one last push for victory? It was end to end stuff and both teams were certainly capable of finding the winning goal. When it came it was Rich Sykes who proved to be the Plate winner as his 5 th of the tournament put Team Geek 2-1 up and it was a deficit that Saipan FC were unable to recover from.

For Saipan FC it was a third final, a third loss and a third loss by just the one goal. For now they had to contend with Runners-Up medals but we are sure there are winners medals and trophies waiting for them one day soon.
