Round 3 started with Cheesecake FC versus SV Zoo. It looked a two horse race at the top and Cheesecake had a chance to lay down the gauntlet to SLFN Z with a win. SV Zoo were no pushovers though and they were locked in a 3-way battle for Plate qualification but still had the chance to make the Cup if they could pull off two wins and other results went their way.

It was first blood to Cheesecake FC as Wes Armstrong put them ahead in the first-half. SV Zoo would have to do what no-one else had managed thus far today and score against Cheesecake FC to rescue something from this game. The Cheesecake FC defence was holding strong though and held firm for the third successive clean sheet.

The final score was 1-0 and Cheesecake FC moved on to 9 points. Over to you SLFN Z.

SLFN Z were on next and had the chance to immediately hit back in the race for the Group D title. Their opponents were DHL Prague White who had the chance to make an impact in the race for 3 rd place.

It did not start well for the Czech team as SLFN Z went ahead and from there never looked back. 1-0 became 2-0 and 2-0 became 3-0. Anotonio Luis got the ball rolling with his first goal of the day before Dimitry Tarlet kept up his record of scoring in every game so far. The 3-0 victory was completed by Shane Watson. SLFN Z drew level on 9 points with Cheesecake FC but sat back in second place by just the one goal on goal difference.

DHL Prague White remained in 3rd place but they and SV Zoo were 8 points behind the runaway leaders at the top.

No Janesy No were 9 points off top but 1 point off 3 rd and they had two games to go. Despite two defeats they were in with a very real shout of making the Plate. With wins hard to come by for those in 3rd to 5th position three points now would make a massive impact for their chances.

For SV Zoo, this was their last group game and it was a last chance to put points on the board. Their fate was out of their own hands unless they could win here. Take all 3 points and they would be in the Plate – anything less and they were in trouble.

No Jansey No had been competitive but lacking a cutting edge so far – just a goal down to Cheesecake for the first half and a narrow defeat by the odd goal in the last game. At half-time they were close again but still behind narrowly 2-1 as Johannes Filler outgunned David Dean's strike.

In the second half SV Zoo pulled away with Johannes Filler completing his hat-trick and Stefan Fricke-Liebig was on the goal trail again. Final score 4-1 and SV Zoo had booked their place in the Plate. No Janesy No would have one more chance to make it.

Game 9 of Group D would be the title showdown between Cheesecake FC and SLFN Z. Both teams had a 100% record and both teams would want to keep that momentum going into the Cup Quarter-Finals. If they could win the Group D title they would not only be champions but book a slightly easier draw in those Quarter-Finals.

There was much to play for. Cheesecake FC had so far, by their own admission, been below par but even still they were grinding out results had scored 7 goals and were yet to concede. This was their toughest test so far though and one they addressed in much the same way as previous games – not spectacular but ruthlessly efficient. Justin Rees scored in the first half and they defended stoutly for the remained of the game without letting SLFN Z in. Cheesecake FC won the group but had their troubles with their goalkeeper now injured and outfield players also carrying knocks they had a tough task ahead to win their first tournament.

For SLFN Z it was a fine showing on debut. They proved there was very little difference between them and seasoned campaigners like Cheesecake FC. SLFN Z had also lost their goalkeeper to injury so would also be up against it in a high quality Cup competition this afternoon.

All that was left to decide was the final Plate place. It was a straight fight between DHL Prague White and No Janesy No. Whoever could claim victory could clinch it and whoever suffered defeat would be in the Wooden Spoon. A draw would favour the Czech team so No Janesy No had to go and win the game.

All went well first half for them as Fred Dabble opened the scoring. It was a lead they were to maintain until half-time and as things stood they were in 4th position. DHL Prague Red hit back though through David Janecek (a contender for their player of the tournament). Rob Millan then put DHL Prague White 2-0 up before Miroslav Haupt looked to settle things. Daniel Hosking scored for 3-2 but that's how it finished and No Janesy No were a fraction short again. They would play in the Wooden Spoon but it was DHL Prague White would would go through to the Plate.
