Group B began with Team Geek of England on debut versus ABC United of Romania. ABC United made a sensational start to eurofootballfives.com competition as they surged to victory in the 2012 Budapest Fives. They could be the fourth team in eurofootballfives.com history to win their first two eurofootballfives.com tournaments if they were successful in Germany today.

They certainly started as if they meant business as it wasn't long before Stefan Munteanu made it 1-0. Marin Petrie and Ciprian Costel Mozacu made it 2-0 and then 3-0 by half-time. In the second half there was no mercy shown as Robert Florin Matei added a fourth, Adrian Constantin Neaga made it 5-0 before Catalin Nicolae Lita rounded off a 6-0 win.

It was a daunting first game for Team Geek who would be wise not to let this result worry them too much as they'd played formidable opposition and not every game would be this tough.

Match 2 saw GFC Transylvania take on SLFN Y. Both teams were on debut and had a blank canvas to paint their footballing prowess on. GFC Transylvania were Berlin based representing Germany and SLFN Y were one of three teams from the SLFN camp.

This game was relatively sedate in goal-scoring terms compared to the first game and the teams reached the interval level at 0-0. After the break the deadlock was broken as Calvin Ji found the breakthrough for GFC Transylvania. The first goal in these games are often crucial as it forces the other team to attack and leave gaps at the back. The counter attack is then always an option and GFC Transylvania capitalised with a second strike from Calvin Ji to secure a 2-0 victory.

The final team in Group B to start their challenge were Friedrichschain Rovers and they may not have wanted to when they saw who their oppoenents were – ABC United.

The Romanian team had started the tournament in fine form and showed no signs of letting that form dip as they put Friedrichschain Rovers to the sword. Adrian Constantin Neaga got the ball rolling and went on to score a first-half hat-trick and was rewarded by being subbed. Ciprian Costel Mozacu and Stefan Munteanu also got in on the act for 5-0….it was half-time.

After the break Munteanu doubled his tally, Florian Mihai Mihalache bagged his first of the day and Marin Petre completed the scoring in an 8-0 win.

It's difficult to criticize any team who lose at the hands of ABC United as they are a truly great team. There was certainly no shame for Friedrichschain Rovers – it's not often you can say that after being on the wrong end of an 8-0 scoreline.

Team Geek would start their road to recovery after being ABC'd against GFC Transylvania. The German team were currently sat in second in the embryonic table and another win here would see them hanging on to the Romanian team's coat tails.

Whilst Team Geek played much better the scoreline did not improve for them as they admitted they conceded some soft goals to give the initiative to GFC Transylvania. The score was 3-0 at half-time which became 5-1 by full-time. For GFC there was a hat-trick for Karim Von Frosta and a brace for James White. The consolation for Team Geek was that they now had their first goal in Europe and it came from Rich Sykes.

GFC Transylvania were in 2nd place and looking good for the Cup.

Next up was SLFN Y against Friedrichschain Rovers. Both teams had tasted defeat in the opening fixtures and both now had the opportunity to put that behind them if they could pull out a win here. The top 2 were already pulling away with a 6 point gap over the rest so points were crucial and going to be especially crucial in matches between those in 3rd to 5th.

The pleasing thing for both teams is that they each opened their goalscoring accounts with Duban Sinclair and Richard Greenwell striking for their teams. There was to be winning goal though and the hero of the hour was SLFN Y's Mawulom Foli who bagged the decisive goal in this game.

It was a vital goal that put them in 3rd place and something to build on going into the second half of Group B.
