Welcome to the 2013 Berlin Fives Post-Tournament Report – a great day was had by all, we witnessed some cracking football and had a Cup Final to savour. There was a lot of quality action before the climax of the tournament though.

First up on Pitch A was Luminy Wolves versus Sporting Beerguts. The latter were on debut so we would find out about them during the course of the day. Luminy Wolves have quite a history in eurofootballfives tournaments making 3 appearances in Barcelona and 1 in Budapest to date;

* 2009 Barca Fives: Champions – beating Goldsmith Williams (Eng) and Lozenetz City (Bul) along the way. Both teams are 2-times eurofootballfives.com champions.

* 2011 Barcelona Fives: Cup QF exit – surprisingly lost on penalties to 2008 winners Rapid Bosco Navas (Spa) despite being the best team in the tournament.

* 2011 Barca Fives: Cup SF exit – losing to eventual winners Midshires FC (Eng).

* 2012 Budapest Fives: Cup SF exit – losing to Budapest Celtic Tigers (Hun).

They were sure to be contenders in Berlin and they began brightly with two goals in each half to see off the English team 4-0. There was two goals each for Jeremy Etchegoynberry and Allan Gosselin.

For Sporting Beerguts it was a tough start to eurofootballfives.com life but there was plenty of time to put things right.

Next up was DHL Prague (Cze) - our most capped team ever. The 2013 Berlin Fives was their 15th appearance in eurofootballfives competition. Their best achievements to date have been a 2nd Place finish in the 2007 Prague Trophy, victory in the 2008 Barca Fives Plate plus Plate runners-up finishes in the 2008 Prague Trophy, 2010 Krakow Trophy, 2010 Prague Masters and 2010 Prague Trophy. Berlin was be their 7 th foreign adventure after trips to Barcelona (x2), Krakow (x2) Budapest and Berlin last season.

The multinational Czech team were up against the El Dude Brothers who would start to write their own eurofootballfives.com history in this fixture. There was very little between the two teams and in the end it was just the one goal to settle it. It was a goal that was credited to Mert Cilli in the DHL Prague Red team and they were off and running with a win. The El Dude Brothers showed plenty of promise for later in the group.

The final team to get underway was German team Stadtrandkicker. They began their eurofootballfives.com career at the 2012 Berlin Fives and finished 4 th in their 6-team group. They qualified for the Plate competition before a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Wein Schweine Fliegen in the Quarter-Finals.

Like Sporting Beerguts they had a tough start to the 2013 Berlin Fives as they met Luminy Wolves. Not just Luminy Wolves but a Luminy Wolves team that had already played a game, warmed up and bagged a win. The French team started off in fine form and continued that form into this game.

It was not long before they raced into a 4-1 lead at half time. Allan Gosselin scored twice to take his tally to the day to 4 goals plus there were goals from Nicolas Allegre and Haikel Ben Khelifa. Christian Behrndt scored Stadtrandkicker's first goal of the day albeit a consolation goal.

After half-time the match was more even as Stadtrandkicker grew into the game and the tournament. They could not prevent Luminy Wolves increasing their lead to 5-1 (Cyril Garcia) though and that's how it finished.

Sporting Beerguts second game was against DHL Prague Red. They were looking to avenge opening game defeat against the team from the Czech Republic. DHL Prague Red were looking to build on a solid opening start to the competition and join Luminy Wolves at the top of the table.

Goals were conspicuous by their absence in the first half and the teams could not be separated. We reached the break all level at 0-0. After the re-start the deadlock was broken by Niall Hutchinson who scored Sporting Beergut's first goal of the day. Anyl Ozgur equalized for DHL Prague Red and the game finished 1-1.

Sporting Beerguts were off the mark and DHL Prague Red were healthily placed in second position

The El Dude Brothers were a little unfortunate to end up without a result from their first game and now faced Stadtrandkicker of Germany to kickstart their campaign. For their part, the Germans had started slowly but looked much better at the end of their game against the Luminy Wolves.

As with El Dude Brothers first game this looked to be another closely matched contest and there was little between the two teams. Stadtrandkicker edged ahead in the opening period through Christian Behrndt's second goal in as many games.

In the second half, the El Dude Brothers gave everything to get back into the game but the German defence stood strong and thwarted each El Dude attack. When the final whistle blew it was still 1-0 to Stadtrandkicker and they picked up a vital win to sit in 3rd place.

It was a tough result for El Dude Brothers who had lost both games by just the odd goal.
