We were at the 2013 Berlin Fives Cup Semi-Finals stage and from the 20 teams who started the day we were down to the final 4. There were still 4 different nationalities in with a chance of victory so who would it be? England, France, Germany or Romania?

First up were Luminy Wolves against Hasanheide Hotspur. The French team were competing in their fourth Cup Semi-Final. In the previous 3 they had 1 victory and 2 defeats. It is maybe surprising they have not reached more than the one Cup Final to date.

Hasanheide Hotspur were in their way and already secured their best eurofootballfives.com finish and were now just two wins from glory. They had seen German team GFC Transylvania go out to Luminy Wolves in the last game and would hope to avoid being another casualty.

Luminy Wolves were looking stronger and stronger and in the Semi-Final they continued their fine form of the Quarter-Final. Then they opened up a 3-0 lead and they did exactly the same here. Haikel Ben Khelifa and Nicolas Allegre (2) scored the goals that put the game beyond their Berlin opponents. Anselm Coen struck his second of the game but alas for them it was a mere consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

It was the end of the road for Hasanheide Hotspur today but it was an impressive performance. Quarter-Finals in 2012, Semi-Finals in 2013 – they have indicated their interest in joining us in Krakow in September so what price a debut Cup Final then?

So, who would take their place in the Final from the second Semi-Final? The two teams set to do battle were ABC United against Cheesecake FC.

ABC United had so far been amazing. They had scored 38 goals and conceded just one – they had been imperious and were fresh. They had the maximum permitted squad and were using it to full advantage. Cheesecake FC were falling like flies to injury and so with an energy sapping Quarter-Final win on Golden Goal it was not ideal preparation for such a big game.

ABC United continued their form into this game and were 4-0 up by half-time with two more goals for Adrian Constantin Neaga and two more goals for Florian Mihai Mihalache. Stefan Munteanu extended the lead to 6-0 after the break before Raznam Radu made it 7-0. James Ingley's strike from distance made it 7-1 to cheers from the crowd so Robert Florin Matei went up the other end to make it 8-1 and Munteanu completed his hat-trick for 9-1. Unbelievable.

Some of the football ABC United were playing was sensational. Let's remember that Cheesecake FC are no pushovers. This was a very good team that ABC United swept aside. Cheesecake FC had only ever gone out to the eventual winners in our tournaments and you would be a brave man to suggest that wasn't going to be the case again today.
