There were just two more games standing between the four remaining teams and glory as we reached the Plate Semi-Finals. It was an all-England encounter in the first Semi-Final as JF & The Pullbacks met Alphasights. At stake was a place in the 2013 Barcelona Fives Plate Final.

JF & The Pullbacks had proven tough opposition all day with just the one defeat. Their opponents had started slowly but were on a sensational run of form with 3 wins on the bounce and 14 goals in 3 games. JF & The Pullbacks had only conceded 3 goals all day so Alphasights would need to work harder for their goals now. With 5 games played each the teams would need to muster the energy one more time to reach a European final.

Alphasights were very adept at Plate football as they finished Runners-up at the 2011 Krakow Trophy and also the Plate Champion of Champions tournament in Budapest earlier this year. Their path to the Final in Barcelona was currently blocked by JF & The Pullbacks who had taken a first half lead through Simon Crowther.

Michael Meredith added his 5 th goal of the day to make it 2-0 to JF & The Pullbacks after the break. There was no back for Alphasights as Jonathan Croft kept his fourth clean sheet of the day for The Pullbacks.

It was farewell to Alphasights who had played in their fourth tournament with us – Krakow, Valencia, Budapest and Barcelona. We really appreciate your support of our events and, as always, was good to see you on tour.

Shahs of Sunset and The Depo Allstars met in the second Semi-Final. In Budapest this year they reached the Cup Semi-Finals and went out to the eventual winners narrowly. Could they make their first eurofootballfives.com final here in Barcelona?

The Depo Allstars were on debut and had impressed to date. They were in unfamiliar territory in our competitions and it would be interesting to see how they fared as the games got tougher and the crowds got bigger on the touchlines. They seemed to be adjusting to the requirements pretty well as Patrick O'Brien put the Irish ahead in the first half. He was really finding his shooting boots with two goals in the Quarter-Final.

Could the Shahs of Sunset hit back? Time was against them and they faced an uphill battle. Their task became all the more difficult as Patrick O'Brien scored again for his sixth of the tournament and to give The Depo Allstars a crucial 2-0 lead.

There was no way back for the Shahs of Sunset who went out at the Semi-Final stage for the second tournament in a row. We are positive there is a Final in the offing for them in the future and rumour has it the Algarve could be their destination of choice for 2014. We very much hope they can join us and wish them all the luck for glory in Portugal.
