Group B kicked off with Spain versus England as Drunk Perfect took on JF & The Pullbacks.

Drunk Perfect are a multinational team all residing in Barcelona who made their debut in the 2011 Barca Fives recently in November. 3 rd place in their group behind England's El A Dees and Japan's Samurai Japan earned them a place in the Cup as one of the highest finishing 3 rd placed teams. Eventual champions Midshires FC ended their run in the Cup Quarter-Finals, 2-0. They returned in 2012 and also finished 3 rd in the group before going out to Barley FC 3-1 in the Plate Quarter-Finals. 3 rd time lucky in 2013?

JF & The Pullbacks were the second team from the County (Re)United stable. They played in the 2011 Valencia Fives where they finished 3 rd in their 5 team group before bowing out in the Quarter-Final stage to Coverton Road. They followed this up in the 2012 Krakow Trophy with a twin-pronged attack as Half Parisian Saint Germain and D'ya Want Florentina. D'ya Want Florentina were the most successful of the two squads reaching the Plate Semi-Finals.

A solitary goal settled this one as Michael Meredith's goal for JF & The Pullbacks sunk Drunk Perfect.

The Depo Allstars of Ireland were next in action against RAF Flyingdales. The Depo Allstars were part of the same travelling group as Deportivo Dooradoyle who had opened up their campaign with a 5-0 defeat to ADP Netherlands 1. Hopefully a brighter start for the Allstars.

RAF Fylingdales were making their debut – the last team from the UK Forces to compete in our Barcelona tournaments were HMS Sultan FC who won the Plate back in November 2011. Could the Fylingdales also prove successful?

It was The Depo Allstars who struck the first blow in this fixture as captain Kevin Shine put the Irish team ahead. It was to get better for them as Patrick O'Brien made it 2-0 at half-time.

In the second-half Brian Kelleher added a third for The Depo Allstars and rounded off a 3-0 victory. It was a great start for them. There was still plenty of time left for the Fylingdales to kickstart their challenge.

El Combe Old Boys were the final team to get their campaign started when they took on Drunk Perfect. El Combe Old Boys were returning to action after a successful debut in the 2010 Algarve Open. As Vodafone FC, they were drawn in the Group of Death and progressed to the final of the Plate competition where they emerged worthy winners after a 3-2 victory. In the 2012 Mallorca Tournament, they entered two teams as Vodafone Rangers and El Combe Old Boys. The latter finished 4th in their 6 team group and played in the Plate competition but were unable to emulate 2010 glory as they went down 2-0 in the Semi-Finals.

Drunk Perfect had suffered a narrow defeat in the first game against JF & The Pullbacks and were to slip behind in this one too as Matt Hall gave El Combe Old Boys the lead. Two goals in the second half from Andy Hampshire consolidated the position for El Combe as they started off in style – with a win.

For Drunk Perfect it was a second defeat but they had scored their first goal of the day through Damien Legal.

Game 4 saw JF & The Pullbacks meet The Depo Allstars. These two teams had both won their opening games and here was an opportunity to build on their great start. A win would give them the lead (or at least a share of the lead) in Group E at the halfway stage.

The first half came and went with the scorers untroubled and the teams locked together at 0-0. Full time also came and went with the scorers still untroubled. The two teams were very closely matched and both defences were very much on top.

The teams shared the points which ensured they remained at the top of Group E although El Combe Old Boys did have a game in hand.

That game in hand for El Combe Old Boys was up next against RAF Fylingdales. A win would see them open up a 2-point lead at the top, a draw would see a 3-way tie on 4 points and defeat would mean there was 4 teams within 1 point of each other at the summit of Group E.

RAF Fylingdales had slipped to defeat on their European tour debut and would want to put things right immediately in this fixture. It was always going to be difficult against quality opposition and the quality of El Combe Old Boys showed as Andy Hampshire scored twice in the first half to give his team a 2-0 lead (4 goals in 2 halves of football for Hampshire).

Matt Hall scored his second in as many games after the break and sealed victory for El Combe Old Boys. It was a victory that saw them go top. The defeat saw RAF Fylingdales bringing up the rear in the group standings.
