Game 6 of Group D saw an encounter between a team with two wins out of two at the top of the table against a team at the foot of the table with two defeats out of two. It was ADP Allstars versus Burritos FC with Mustard.

ADP Allstars had looked the strongest of all the ADP Spain teams thus far so were favourites for this match. With the game underway it was the Spanish side who opened the scoring through Carlos Gonzalez. At the interval it remained 1-0 but Burritos FC with Mustard were very much in this game. The English team had thus far been competitive without reward and this game looked like going the same way.

Defensively Burritos FC with Mustard were doing ok but they were struggling to find the net at the other end. Now would be an ideal time to break their goal-scoring duck but the next goal in this game came from Marcus Gravin to make it 2-0 and secure all three points.

The result put ADP Allstars in an imperious position at the top of Group D. For Burritos FC with Mustard it was another case of close but no cigar.

Next up were the upwardly mobile Team Also Ran against Sporting Gingham. Team Also Ran had just picked up their first win of the day. Sporting Gingham had two 2-0 wins under their belts. A win for Team Also Ran would put them in joint 2 nd place with their opponents. A win for Sporting Gingham would put them joint top with ADP Allstars.

Sporting Gingham continued their superb start to the tournament as Tom Taylor scored for the third game in succession. It was then the turn of Ben Farrett to score for the third game in a row. The game finished 2-0 and there was a remarkable run of symmetry to the Sporting Gingham results – they'd won all 2-0 and all with a goal from the Taylor-Farrett axis of goalscoring.

Sporting Gingham moved level with ADP Allstars at the top of the table. Team Also Ran continued to occupy third position.

Game 8 was Alphasights versus Burritos FC with Mustard. Both teams were yet to register their first points of the day and they needed to set that fact straight quickly. For Burritos FC with Mustard this was their last group fixture and so regardless of the result they would almost certainly play in the Trophy but they would want to avoid the Play-Off and obviously there was pride at stake.

Alphasights still had a game to come after this and if they could take a minimum of 4 points of the 6 they had a shout at the Plate although two wins would seal it.

It was Alphasights who dealt the first blow, the second and the third as they raced into a 3-0 lead. Burritos FC with Mustard had defended well so far today but may be it was a game too far as Alphasights really found their shooting boots. They had scored 1 goal in 2 games before this but hit Burritos FC with Mustard for six. The goals game from Jonathan Patterson (2), Carsten Brinkmann, Dave Griffiths (2) and Dean Prosenica.

If there was any consolation for Burritos FC with Mustard it was they got off the mark themselves as Michael Winnard and Richard Pogmore scored their team's goals. Final score, 6-2.

The penultimate game was the big one of Group D as the two teams at the top came head-to-head. It was ADP Allstars versus Sporting Gingham. Both teams had a 100% record, 3 wins out of 3 and the maximum 9 points on offer. The way the other groups were shaping up it looked as if both would qualify for the Cup with their points haul so it was mainly the Group D title that was up for grabs.

It was winner takes all stuff but should the game result in a draw then it would be ADP Allstars who would be crowned champions on goal difference. The early advantage was to the Spanish side who took the lead thanks to a goal from Carlos Gonzalez. It was his fourth of the day and he was the first man to score past the Sporting Gingham defence today.

How could Sporting Gingham respond to being behind? Pretty well in truth as Sam Wowk scored his first goal of the day but it would not be enough as Taher Mortezaie's goal proved to be the decisive strike in the game.

The final score of 2-1 meant it was ADP Allstars who won the game and Group D.

Finally in Group D we had Team Also Ran versus Alphasights. The two teams were each on 3 points and both needed the win to make the Plate competition. A draw would not be good enough for both as 4 points would not be sufficient to be the best 4th placed team. So, in this scenario a draw would benefit Alphasights as it would mean finishing above their opponents in 3rd position courtesy of goal difference. Team Also Ran would then go into the Trophy competition.

We don't think there was any question of this game being a draw as both teams really went for it. Alphasights had won in their last game and in style – 6-2. They continued this game in the same vein as they seemed to take that fabled Ossie Ardiles, Kevin Keegan philosophy of however many you score, we'll score more. The game was wide open and Alphasights led 2-0 at the break. Barry O'Mahony scored twice for Team Also Ran after the interval but it would not be enough as Alphasights ran out 5-2 winners.

Alphasights had scored an incredible 11 goals in 2 games and were really finding their form. They would progress to the Plate with confidence.
