Game 13 had thrown up a fantastic tie to whet the appetite. The group had transpired that Rapid Bosco Navas and Warranty Direct would come head to head in what was effectively a cup tie and straight fight for 2nd place with an outside shot of top spot should the Monkeys slip up. Spanish team Rapid Bosco Navas had the slight advantage in the sense that a draw would guarantee them 2nd place. The first half proved as close as you would expect and the teams could not be separated. The second half was a different story and who knows what was in the Rapid half-time oranges. Within minutes of the re-start the Spanish had clipped the bar twice. Could Warranty Direct have the luck on their side? If they did it didn't show as Rapid Bosco Navas played the whole second half in the way they started it and they were to get their rewards with a 3-0 victory. In the goal-scoring stakes Juan Martinez joined Warranty Direct's David Payne at the top of the charts with 6 goals each. Xavi Llimona scored his third of the day and there was also a first tournament goal for Xavier Bustamente.

With a name such as Magic Monkeys FC maybe we shouldn't mention potential banana skins. A fit and firing Wafty Crankers would have been that but they were beginning to look weary in the heat (sorry lads) and most spectators expected the Magic Monkeys to go on and win Group A. They did just that and in perfect style with a 100% record, scoring 12 along the way and yet to concede a goal. They were looking in fine form and it would take a brave punter to bet against them. They won this game 3-0 with Jake Algar grabbing goal number 3 for him and Jonathan Darbey scoring his first of the day…..in duplicate. No-one could argue that Magic Monkeys were worthy Group A winners. Wafty Crankers were two games from glory in the Plate competition.

The final game of Group A was a basement battle between Equipo A and London Rivals. The two teams had dovetailed in 5th and 6th all day on goal difference. Neither team couldmake the Plate as Wafty Crankers were just too far out of reach. We were left with pride to play for and national honour as Spain met England . In the first half there was only the goal between the teams and it came from James Foord. With the pressure off Equipo A built on their lead through Foord again and a cracking long range strike from Marcelo Arenas. London Rivals had the honour of finding the net again as Daniel Pattenden took the crowd's cheers. The 3-1 final score meant Equipo A finished in 5th and London Rivals took the wooden spoon. This was a first European adventure for them and with this experience under their belt we are sure they will come back refreshed and renewed next time around.
