The eagerly anticipated 2010 Barcelona Fives kicked off on Pitch A with 2008 Barca Five champions Rapid Bosco Navas hosting Magic Monkeys FC. Magic Monkeys were making their eurofootballfives.com debut and making a solid start. In a fairly even first-half the teams went into the break all level at 0-0. In the second half though it was the visiting side that kicked on and turned stalemate into three points thanks to Jake Algar scoring their first of the day and Russell Chopping sealing the victory with a second. 3 points to the Magic Monkeys and they had lay down a marker to their Group A opponents.

 
 
 
The two teams looking to emulate the Magic Monkeys with an opening game win were Warranty Direct and London Rivals. David Payne gave Warranty Direct an early lead which is so often important in these tournaments. It's always tough to come back from behind in this format of the game and although London Rivals tried hard their efforts were thwarted and they faced a one-goal deficit when the teams turned round at half-time. The second half was more of the same and David Payne doubled his tally and Warranty Direct's advantage. At 2-0 there was no coming back and they joined the Magic Monkeys on top spot.
 
 
 

The final two teams to get started in Group A were 2009 Barca Fives Plate winners Equipo A and eurofootballfives regulars Wafty Crankers. It couldn't have been a worse start for the English team as they found themselves a goal down within 10 seconds due to a goalkeeping misjudgement. Jack Foord was the lucky beneficiary with the fastest goal of the day. You have to give credit to Wafty Crankers though who did not let this early setback get them down. On the stroke of half-time they pulled a goal back through James Rowland. In the second half they completed a great comeback and it James Rowland again bagging his brace and the winner.

It's worth mentioning that these goals represented a great achievement. This was the 12th consecutive eurofootballfives.com game that Rowland had scored in. A great record and this 100% goalscoring record is unequalled in our tournaments….and still going! It also earned a 2-1 win in this fixture and 3 rd place in the Group A table.
