The two sides had already crossed paths during the group stage, where 6Guys edged a closely fought contest 1–0 thanks to a goal from Nick Hogg. Their overall records had been remarkably similar too, with both teams collecting nine points from their five group matches and finishing in Group A separated only by goal difference. The stats (goals scored, conceded, goal difference) were in Victory United's favour. However, their head-to-head earlier towards another tight encounter, with very little to choose between the finalists as they battled to lift the Plate trophy.

The opening exchanges certainly reflected those fine margins, with both teams showing the organisation and discipline that had carried them through the group stage and into the knockout rounds. Eventually, however, 6Guys found the breakthrough. José Manuel Méndez Kosaras, fresh from scoring both goals in the semi-final victory over Joga Bonito, continued his remarkable scoring streak by putting 6Guys 1–0 ahead. It was a slender advantage, but an important one, and they carried that lead into the half-time interval.

If Victory United had hoped to respond after the break, they instead found themselves facing a striker in irresistible form. Kosaras struck twice more to complete a superb hat-trick, taking his tally to five goals across the semi-final and final after not finding the net once during the group stage. He certainly came up with the goods when it mattered most. It was an extraordinary transformation at exactly the right time and one of the standout individual performances of the tournament. Victory United continued to battle and eventually pulled a goal back through Bouziane to make it 3–1, but the comeback was too late as 6Guys saw out the closing stages with confidence to claim the Plate title.

Commiserations to Victory United, who can still look back on an excellent tournament. After losing their opening two group matches, they produced one of the most impressive recoveries of the day, winning four successive matches—including memorable victories over FC NoeNoe which ended their 2 year unbeaten spell in this event.

Congratulations to 6Guys, worthy winners of the 2026 Amsterdam Sixes Plate competition. Their journey was one of resilience and perfectly timed form. Two hard-earned 1–0 victories gave them an excellent start before successive defeats threatened to derail their campaign. Rather than letting those setbacks define them, they regrouped superbly, won their final group game to reach the knockout phase, and then produced their best football when it mattered most. José Manuel Méndez Kosaras will rightly take many of the headlines after scoring both goals in the semi-final and following that with a magnificent hat-trick in the final, but this was a triumph built on teamwork, belief and determination. Winning three consecutive matches to finish the day as Plate champions was a fitting reward for a team that never lost faith in themselves, and they leave the Amsterdam Sixes as deserved Plate winners.
