Next
up was Humble Goats looking to keep pace with
fellow unbeaten side Hilfe FC at the top of
the table. Having won their opening two matches
the pressure was on the Dutch side to maintain
their perfect start. Standing in their way were
Medenballers, who had recovered from an opening
defeat by claiming an important victory in their
previous outing and were hoping to build on
that momentum.
Humble
Goats continued a remarkable trend of making
fast starts. Having already scored six unanswered
first-half goals in their opening two matches,
they once again took control before the interval.
Jazz Prins opened the scoring before Dayae El
Kanfoundi doubled the advantage. Youssef Yachou
then added his third goal of the tournament
to make it 3–0 at the break. It meant Humble
Goats had now scored nine first-half goals without
conceding a single one, underlining just how
dominant they had been in the opening periods
of their matches.
The
second half had previously been the quieter
part of Humble Goats' games, but this time they
continued their momentum. Rafael Olivero Hernandez
scored for the second consecutive match to extend
the lead to 4–0 before Dayae El Kanfoundi grabbed
his second of the game to complete an impressive
team performance. Medenballers did at least
have the final say when Mathieu Beller pulled
a goal back, but it proved to be no more than
a consolation as Humble Goats ran out convincing
5–1 winners.
The
result kept Humble Goats level with Hilfe FC
on a perfect nine points from three matches
and reinforced their status as one of the tournament
favourites. Their blistering starts continued
to be a defining feature of their campaign.
For Medenballers, the defeat was a setback after
getting off the mark in their previous game,
but with two group matches still to play, there
was plenty left to play for in the battle for
the knockout places.
