The
final certainly delivered. Neither side was
prepared to give an inch, yet both carried an
attacking threat whenever they broke forward.
By half-time the scores were locked at 1–1 after
each side found the net once during a highly
entertaining opening period. Sultan Keji Adebari
was on target for Hilfe FC with another important
contribution, while Humble Goats' equaliser
came via an unfortunate own goal forced by Jazz
Prins from a corner. It left the destination
of the trophy completely in the balance heading
into the second half.
If
anything, the second period was even more absorbing.
Hilfe FC perhaps enjoyed more of the attacking
momentum in the closing stages and continually
looked to find the decisive breakthrough, while
Humble Goats remained disciplined and dangerous
on the counter-attack whenever opportunities
presented themselves. Neither side settled for
simply waiting for penalties, but both defences
stood tall under pressure and refused to yield.
After another fiercely contested half, the final
whistle sounded with the score still locked
at 1–1, meaning the Amsterdam Sixes title would
be decided from the penalty spot.
The
shootout belonged to Humble Goats almost from
the very first kick. Sultan Keji Adebari stepped
forward first for Hilfe FC but saw his penalty
brilliantly saved by Jamal Oulad Mhand Aissa,
handing the Dutch side an immediate advantage.
Jazz Prins responded with all the composure
expected of a player of his quality, placing
his effort into the bottom-left corner to make
it 1–0. Hilfe FC's hopes suffered another cruel
blow when Marquez Cadette struck the post with
their second penalty. Sensing the opportunity
to finish the contest, Jeremy Freyne stepped
up for Humble Goats and confidently found the
same bottom-left corner to seal a 2–0 shootout
victory, sparking jubilant celebrations as the
long-awaited Amsterdam Sixes title was finally
secured.
Commiserations
to Hilfe FC, who were magnificent throughout
the tournament and can hold their heads incredibly
high. To reach the Cup Final on debut was a
tremendous achievement, particularly in a field
of such quality, and they pushed one of eurofootballfives.com's
most decorated teams all the way. Their performances
throughout the day showcased quality, organisation
and composure, and on another afternoon they
could easily have been lifting the trophy themselves.
Fine margins so often decide finals, and this
was another example of that. We have little
doubt that Hilfe FC have announced themselves
as a major force in our tournaments, and we
sincerely hope to welcome them back to challenge
for more honours in the future.
Congratulations
to Humble Goats, the 2026 Amsterdam Sixes champions.
This was a victory years in the making. After
finishing runners-up in 2022 and again in 2024,
and collecting the Plate title in 2025, they
finally captured the one trophy that had eluded
them. Their success was built on everything
that makes championship teams so difficult to
beat: experience, resilience, tactical discipline
and an unshakeable belief in one another. They
navigated a hugely competitive tournament, defeated
outstanding opponents throughout the knockout
rounds, and held their nerve when the pressure
was at its greatest. By adding the Amsterdam
Sixes Cup to their two Amsterdam Sevens titles,
Humble Goats further cemented their place among
the true legends of eurofootballfives.com history.
Few teams have built a legacy as impressive
as theirs, and this latest triumph was a richly
deserved reward for another exceptional tournament.
Thank
you to all the teams who competed – it was a
fantastic day. We hope to see you all again
at another eurofootballfives.com tournament
very soon.
