Retainers
Stoned returned to action determined to put their
opening defeat behind them, but they faced another
daunting assignment against a Shush IF side that
had impressed with a 3–0 victory in their first
outing. Shush IF (Swe) began their eurofootballfives.com
journey at the 2025 Lisbon Tournament. They began
superbly with a 4-0 win over Montenelas FC (Por)
before a thrilling 3-3 draw against Foot 130 A
(Fra). A 1-0 win over Solly March FC (Eng) put
them top of the table but a final game 3-0 defeat
to Mngball United (Eng) saw them drop to third
place in the table on goal difference but they
had done to qualify for the Cup as one of the
best third placed finishers. In the Quarter-Finals
they met Group A winners Sloane FC (Eng) and drew
2-2 before progressing 3-2 on penalties. Their
run ended at the Semi-Final stage to eventual
champions Bonde Sem Freio of Brazil, 3-1.
The
English side rose to the challenge superbly. They
produced a disciplined and determined defensive
display throughout the first half, frustrating
the Swedes at every opportunity. Shush IF enjoyed
plenty of possession but found it difficult to
create clear openings, while Retainers Stoned
competed for every ball and ensured the teams
went into the interval locked together at 0–0.
The breakthrough finally arrived after the restart
when Gustav Lewander found the net to give Shush
IF the lead. It appeared to be the decisive moment,
with the Swedish side looking capable of seeing
the game out for another victory. Retainers Stoned,
however, refused to accept defeat. Paulo Basilio
produced a moment of real quality, unleashing
a superb long-range strike that flew into the
net to level the scores at 1–1. Buoyed by their
equaliser, the English side managed the closing
stages intelligently, defending resolutely to
deny Shush IF a winner and secure a deserved share
of the spoils.
For
Retainers Stoned, the draw must have felt every
bit as valuable as a victory. After a difficult
introduction to the tournament, they responded
with resilience, organisation and belief to claim
their first point of the day against one of Group
A's strongest teams. Shush IF remained unbeaten,
but they will be disappointed not to have converted
their territorial advantage into a second successive
win. Even so, both sides emerged with something
to build upon as the race for the knockout places
continued to gather pace.

FC
NoeNoe entered their second Group A fixture
looking to build on the momentum of a commanding
7–0 opening victory, a result that had extended
their remarkable unbeaten run in normal time
at the Amsterdam Sixes to 15 matches. Standing
in their way were Habemus Papam, who had impressed
defensively despite suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat
to Six Guys in their tournament debut. While
FC NoeNoe were favourites, Habemus Papam were
determined to prove they could compete with
one of the competition's most established sides.
The
opening half produced one of the surprises of
the tournament so far. Habemus Papam defended
with discipline and carried a threat going forward,
and their positive approach was rewarded when
Enzo Pompei broke the deadlock. His well-taken
finish gave the Dutch side a valuable 1–0 lead
and stunned the former champions. FC NoeNoe
searched for an immediate response but were
unable to break through before the interval,
leaving Habemus Papam ahead at half-time. FC
NoeNoe emerged after the break with renewed
urgency and soon hauled themselves back into
the contest. Haroun Kamarkheyl continued his
outstanding scoring form by netting his fifth
goal of the tournament to level the scores before
his side were handed a second goal through an
unfortunate own goal as they completed the turnaround.
Just when it appeared FC NoeNoe had rescued
another victory, Habemus Papam responded brilliantly.
Casper Boersma found the equaliser to make it
2–2, ensuring the spirited underdogs earned
a richly deserved share of the points.
The
draw represented a significant result for both
teams. Habemus Papam collected the first point
in their eurofootballfives history and showed
tremendous character by recovering after falling
behind against one of the tournament favourites.
FC NoeNoe remained unbeaten and moved level
with Shush IF on four points at the top of Group
A, leading the standings on goal difference,
but they will know they were pushed all the
way by an impressive Habemus Papam side that
announced itself as a team capable of troubling
anyone in the group.

The
second round fixtures concluded with an all-Dutch
encounter as 6Guys faced Victory United. 6Guys
had made a winning start to their debut with a
hard-fought 1–0 victory over Habemus Papam, while
Victory United were looking to bounce back from
a 3–0 defeat against Shush IF. Despite the scoreline
in their opening match, Victory United had shown
plenty of promise by holding the Swedes until
half-time, setting the stage for what promised
to be another closely contested affair.
That
proved to be exactly the case. Both sides were
well organised defensively and neither was prepared
to give much away in an evenly balanced first
half. Chances were limited as the teams cancelled
each other out, with Victory United once again
frustrating their opponents through disciplined
defending. For the second successive match, they
reached the interval with the scores locked at
0–0, giving themselves every chance of taking
something from the contest. As the second half
unfolded, 6Guys gradually began to exert more
pressure, but Victory United continued to hold
firm and looked capable of earning their first
point of the tournament. However, just as they
had done in their opening fixture, 6Guys found
another late breakthrough when it mattered most.
Nick Hogg was the man to deliver the decisive
moment, scoring the only goal of the game to secure
a second successive 1–0 victory. Victory United
battled until the final whistle but were unable
to find an equaliser.
It
was another composed and efficient performance
from 6Guys, who demonstrated a real knack for
finding winning goals in tight contests. Two matches,
two clean sheets and two late 1–0 victories lifted
them onto six points and to the top of the Group
A table, underlining their credentials as serious
contenders for the Cup qualification places. For
Victory United, it was more frustration, but there
were encouraging signs in yet another disciplined
display. Having matched two strong opponents for
long periods, they could still take confidence
into the remainder of their group-stage campaign.
