Next
up we had Humble Goats versus FLA. The Dutch
team played at the 2022 Amsterdam Sixes and
opened up with their first defeat in our events,
3-1 to Dolce and Lallana before a 1-1 draw against
LFFC (Fra). They had a tough task to qualify
for the Cup especially as they were due to face
the 2022 Amsterdam Fives champions next, FC
Kicks. They brushed them aside 4-0 before a
2-2 draw against Colden Hommodore left their
Cup qualification in the balance. They won their
final game 10-0 to go through on goal difference
in second place – one of 3 teams locked on 8
points.
In
the Cup Semi-Final they defeated RAF (Por) on
penalties after a 2-2 draw before losing a very
tight Cup Final finished 1-0 to Ball Bashers
as Humble Goats collected runners-up medals
in the presentation.
Humble
Goats had started today with two wins on the
bounce but were up against a tough team in FLA
who were unbeaten so far with 4 points from
a possible 6. A surprise looked like it might
be on the cards when Philip Hunt put FLA 1-0
up. It was only the second goal that Humble
Goats had conceded in 10 eurofootballfives games
in 2023. Humble Goats showed why they have two
Amsterdam Sevens titles on their CV though when
they quickly responded through Jihad Jeouanie.
It was 1-1 at half-time.
We
were to witness a winner in the second half
and the goal came in sensational style. A driving
run and wicked whipped cross found Rafael Hernandez
at the back post. He powered in the header and
sparked wild celebrations. He kept up his record
of scoring in every game and his team had 3
wins out of 3.
